Your Song Lyrics

It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live

If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions...

Well, as far as I know, the lyrics are not Elton's, they were written by Bernie Taupin (Elton wrote the music). What I heard that he said about this song is that he was 17 when he wrote it and it expresses a pure and naive love. Elton used to think that the song was about one of Taupin's girlfriends, but Taupin denied this.
Anyway... it's the best song ever!

Realistic and openhearted. Not full of clichees like most love tunes. Wish there was more of these. Just an appreciation of another being existing - true love

This was originally sung by a gay man who loved another man. What this man was trying to say was that he loved this person. He would do anything for him, he even said that it wouldn't be much but it would be as much as he could do. So he had a love for this man and wanted him to know it, which then led to him making a song just for this person. It wasn't much but it was something that came from his heart.
All it is, is that Ellie either loved this song so much or it actually meant something to her.

He wrote this song for his mum... Not his boyfriend

You are all completely wrong, he wrote this about how everyone when he was 17 was caught up in the materialistic lifestyle of having to fall in love. Just because he is gay does not mean he is talking about it. This is just saying that when he was in "love" with someone who we know nothing about while he was 17 was beautiful and he appreciates the beauty she had. End of story.

i think he is saying that he is gay. i don't know what the message is totally, but i do know it's to a male. with that out of the way , it's truly excellant song. he is an amazing piano player with a pretty good voice

*fact* Elton John wrote this song for his boyfriend after they had been broken up for some time, he apologises for forgetting the small things but he remembers the feelings they gave him(excuse me forgetting, but these things I do,you see I've forgotten if they're anyway the thing that I really mean, your's are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen) green or they're. His is saying if he was sculptor he would make him a statue etc. but he is a songwriter so that is all he can give.

    It is simple and beautiful.
