Eric Clapton: Lay Down Sally Meaning
Song Released: 1977
Lay Down Sally Lyrics
There is nothing that is wrong
In wanting you to stay here with me
I know you've got somewhere to go
But won't you make yourself at home and stay with me?
And don't you ever leave
Lay down, Sally, and rest you in my arms
Don't you...

He's a simple guy, in love with a close family friend or non-blood relative.
She knows how he feels, does like him a lot, but has a full, fun life with plenty of lovers. She keeps him at arm's length ignoring his overtures.(he's family!) She would sleep with him in the right circumstances but she's in no rush because she can do better (in her mind), when ever she wants. -
Easy Sally is naive snd he just wants her for a little casual no strings fun, for awhile, no beating around the bush, lol.
-
Actually he was singing about his dog but we can go with that stuff too.
-
Song 4me interpretates "persuasion towards Sally to rekindle their love that's not lost by tossing out worries & give their romance a chance! Running is no answer, but be submissive & we do belong together Sally ....

It's kind of creepy, but I think it's a dark plea from a serial killer to keep his victim with him. He tries talking to her all night, but of course he finds the poignant truth of the serial killer: he cannot really keep his victim, only the lifeless shell.
He longs for the morning light to "reanimate" the victim, but will only be disappointed.
Or he was singing about banging someone's wife, because Clapton was a total sleazebag who couldn't keep his hands off his mates' wives. -
A mafioso or snitch who "lays down" and is a "lay-down SALly", most likely to be killed.
-
This song is about when eric clapton was sleeping with ringo starr's wife. gives the song a whole new meaning.

Briefly: Loving y'r favorite instrument, whether piano, guitar, harmonica, Hugh Base Fidel 78in. Long or less can lay down w/u strumming vocal---instrument ally expression joined with
expression. Expression is the concept of life--without it to bad -
Here's my interpretation: Its about a man struggling with a drug addiction (Sally); and he's been struggling most of his life trying to put his problems rest, but can't seem to do so.
