Extreme: More Than Words Meaning
Song Released: 1991
More Than Words Lyrics
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew how easy
It would be to show me how you feel
More than words
Is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn't have to...

#1 top rated interpretation:According to guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, the song is warning people that the phrase "I love you" is becoming empty in meaning. People use it so often that they think they have shown their love for someone by simply saying that. We could prove our love is real through the simple hugs and kisses we give to our loved ones. It dosen't necessarily mean you have to show your love through sex; the main message of the song is that we could show our love through our actions instead of just saying it. That way, your loved one wouldn't ask if you love him/her, cause they'd already know.

The way I see it is that you can see what value others hold for you through how they treat you. While being told you are loved is nice, the singer states that he is paying attention to the others actions and those will communicate clearly how one feels for the other. I have adopted this method of deciphering my true value to others and it's use has been shockingly eye-opening. Use at your own risk.

It one of our favorite songs. My husband chose this as our first dance as husband and wife. 28yrs later we are still stronger than ever .

This is one of the exact reason that I love you is not trustable if no action happened and Exactly action speaks louder than words
-
At its most basic: Actions speak louder than words. Show respect, be honest, sincere, helpful, supportive, considerate, kind
-
The guy is asking a girl to show him how much she loves him and not by saying it through words. For people who are really in love with each other.
One of the romantic songs by the Extreme band. -
It simply means; Actions speak louder than words.

This is song is beautiful like the guts singing it
But yeah what would some people do i we took away the words I love you??? Amazing song having it played at my wedding -
If you never got chance to say the things you wanted to say or thank somebody for there big part in yr life before they've passed on and that your actions in how you "live" yr life from here on is enough for them to know they have left you with some tools

The more than words song is introducing the fact you don need to say those three little words that make everything ¨special¨. In the part of the song that says,¨Saying I love you, is not the words I want to hear from you¨He does not want his love to just say those empty words to him without knowing if she actually has feelings for her, whether they are intimate or mutual feelings.

Actions speak louder than words.

Believe it or not, this song is not about a man and a woman's estranged relationship. The next time you listen to the song, imagine God singing it to a person. Many say that they love God, but do not practice it. Remember the lyric in the song "What would you say, if I took those words away, then you couldn't make things new, just by saying I love you." This is basically God saying "What if I took away your ability to speak, then you couldn't just say I love you to assure yourself that things are all better between us". Gary Cherone acknowledged that this entire cd is loosely based on a person finally coming upon the truth after struggling with a lifetime of sexual sin.

This song is the greatest play of the classical maneuver known as the "if you loved me..." gambit. The singer is attempting to get into his girl's pants or, perhaps more accurately, to get her into his pants as signified by the line "hold me close...touch me."
