Fall Out Boy: 7 Minutes In Heaven Meaning
7 Minutes In Heaven Lyrics
With anyone who will lie down
I'll be stuck fixated on one star
When the world is crashing down
I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type
But you've got me looking in...
-
I think the narrator is depressed that he can't get closed to a girl that he likes.. and doesn't know how to deal with it.. possibly relating to Pete's almost OD.
-
Also, Dancemyfly...or watever...who said that pete's mum saved him is WRONG! pete was listening to a song in the car and he called his manager. whilst on the phone to his manager he passed out and dropped his phone, all the manager could hear was a song playing and he knew something was wrong. So he called the hospital.
SO IT WAS NOT HIs MUM. although after he got out from hospital, he went to live with parents, so I geuss his mum did help in some way. -
HELLO!!???
Any true Fall Out Boy fan (like me) would know that this song was written in 2005 after what was believed to be a suicide attempted by pete wentz.
Pete overdosed on the anti-depressant of the anxiety medication Ativan, and as a result, spent a week in hospital.
'I'm having another episode
I just need a stronger dose '
Pete is having one of those terrible days and just wants it all to stop. And to make it all stop, he just needs a stronger dose.
If you do not believe me, read the 'Personal Life' section of Pete on this URL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Wentz
This song sounds a lot like he is trying to sleep with some girl, and that could very well be part of it. But this song is mainly referring to Pete's 'experience'.
The URL above explains alot.
I love Pete's lyrics, and the way they are bought to life by Patrick's amazing vocals is...well...AMAZING!!
I wonder if any of the Fall Out Boy members ever read what other people interpret their songs as??
If they do...i say a HUGE THANKYOU to andy, joe, pete and patrick.
with out andy's steady drum rythm, joes wonderful trirling skills, pete's lyrics and screams, and patricks voice...
Fall Out Boy would not be the same.
Thank you -
Atavan is a sleeping pill, and if you all remember correctly the first line of the song is " I'm sleeping my way out of this one" also I think it refers to the fact that he'll have meaningless sex just to replace his feelings of depression.
"im having another episode, I just need a stronger dose"
hes feeling really depressed, and needs more atavan because by sleeping it means he can leave the world behind.
so yea in a way it's about how wanting this girl makes him feel empty but also it does incorporate aspects of how he feels about his OD episode
jamie -
I'm no good at interpreting songs, but I remember reading somewhere that it's about Pete trying to kill himself.
-
"Wentz uses irony and other devices to narrate personal experiences, as reflected in the song "7 Minutes in Heaven," which was based on his own attempted suicide in 2005. " ((From ABC news))
i don't know whether or not pete is straight edge but to clear something up it is very common for a straight edger to abstain from SEX, drugs, and alcohol ( xXx )
i swear I read somewhere like seventeen magazine that pete was a virgin but that was about a year ago, and he's going out with ashlee so I doubt it's still true
It was pete's mom that saved him from suicide, not patrick... pete had called his manager slurring his words and the manager knew something was wrong so he called pete's mom who came and got him (at best buy)
anyone know if "I've got a dark alley..." is really about his attempted suicide also? -
It's about pete/patrick wanting to commit suiside I saw an interveiw on it
-
Okay I'm gonna take a shot at this. I may be WAY off, but at least I can say I tried. First of all this song IS about how Pete ODed on Ativan.
I'm sleeping my way out of this one
With anyone who will lie down
I'll be stuck fixated on one star
When the world is crashing down
He's just been out of it and not really worried about anything. He doesn't care who is with him, he's not being picky. He'll be daydreaming about one thing when all these other things are happening around him and he doesn't even seem to notice.
I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type
But you've got me looking in through blinds
I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type
He keeps trying to reassure himself that he's not desperate enough to end his own life, but the person who has made him feel this way has him emotionally traped.
Sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you
I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well
Sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you
I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well on my own
He's not worried about things that he usually likes to do [[like dancing]] because all he wants to worry about is this person and he's trying to forget everything else except them. He is not going to leave if he's still alone because he's afraid that he might hurt/kill himself, he doesn't really care who goes home with him, but he would prefer for it to be this person.
The only thing worse than not knowing
Is you thinking that I don't know
I'm having another episode
I just need a stronger dose
The only thing that's worse than not knowing whatever it is he's talking about is this person thinking that he doesn't know when he actually does. So this person thinks he's ignorant, but he really DIES know. And this makes him anxious and he has an emotional episode, so he takes more pills to try to feel better. -
OMGSH YOU FREAKS WHO OBVIOULSY DONT KNOW ABOUT FALL OUT BOY ITS ABOUT SOME LIFE PROBLEMS THEY'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH.UNLIKE YOU PEOPLE WHO JUST HIDE BEHIND ROCKS.
-
BTW. IT is in No way shape or form about girls
you fools -
For God Sake.
If you were real fans of Fall Out Boy you would know what this song meant.
Pete OD on Atavan, yes that is correct.
he kept taking them because they were his scape goat.
He was worried that his fans would leave him due to the photos on the internet and how people saw him.
"I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well on my own "
means exactly what it says.
He moved back in with his mum at the age of 24 (time it happend) beacuase he was scared it would happen again so he wanted to be watched. He is still living with hsi mother at the age of 28 and she still makes him clean his room and turn down his loud music.
The reason he called it "Seven Minutes in Heaven" is beacuse he was unconcious for seven minutes and at the time he liked it better that way... -
This song is about Pete's overdose on atavan, in an attempt to commit suicide. He probably thought it would provide him with some pleasure, but um. It didn't...the Van Halen part, because he called the song 7 minutes in heaven, just seemed to work, I think. Pretty catchy.
-
I think that FOB is an awesome band and the song is just basically an anthlem to guys who want to get over the other girl..... The only way to do that is to sleep with other girls so the other one won't come to mind
-
"The part that says "I'm going home alone because I don't do too well on my own" is about when he moved back into his parents' house after nearly killing himself"
The lyrics are actually "I'm NOT going home alone because I don't do to well on my own", probably meaning something along the lines of he's bringing home a girl (if you catch my drift) because he doesn't want to be alone.
Also, everyone should stop being so angry at people who interpret the song differently then them, and no one should be positive about what the song means except for Pete Wentz. None of us know exactly what was going through his mind, it really could be anything. We all see it in different ways, though, which makes us all enjoy it or dislike it. -
You idiots! The song is about Pete's depression, he even said so himself. Remember back when he took an overdose of anxiety pills? Yeah that was because of his depression! A lot of songs are based on it...wow.
