Fall Out Boy: Grand Theft Autumn Meaning
Song Released: 2003
Grand Theft Autumn Lyrics
I hope, he is a gentleman..
And maybe he won't find out what I know:
You were the last good thing about this part of town..
When I wake up-
I'm willing to take my chances on
The hope I forget that you hate him...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is clearly about a best friend (girl) that the narator is in love with, but the person he likes is already involved in a relationship. 'maybe he won't find out what I know: you were the last good thing about this part of town' suggests that the narrator thinks that the person's partner isn't good enough for her and that she deserves better, another line that backs this statement up is 'but I'm still trying and that's more than I can say for him'
'someday il appreciate and value' suggests that he hopes that he can someday appriciate that they are best friends and that she wants nothing more but he knows it won't come easialy.
'he won't find out' (background voices) suggests the concience of the girl when she is choosing to cheat on her boyfriend with her best friend or not to. -

#2 top rated interpretation:I think it's about Pete liking a girl who has a boyfriend that cheats on her. "where is your boy tonight" means that he's out with some other girl "I hope he is a gentlemen" is a sarcastic way of saying that he's seeing the other girl. "maybe he won't find out what I know, you were the last good thing about this part of town" is that Pete hopes the other guy won't love her as much as he does, because then Pete won't stand a chance.

#3 top rated interpretation:I think that this song is about a guy who really likes this girl but she doesn't know it and is dating another guy. That guy that she is dating is goin around cheatin on her and she doesn't know it. The guy that likes this girl is tryin 2 prove 2 her that she deserves better and that he could be that guy that could treat her better. This is one of their easier songs to interpret!lol!

I think it's about a girl who cheats on her whatless boyfriend with someone from FOB.
She does it since her boyfriend doesn't pay her any attention so she feels vulnerable and cheats. At this point the guy from FOB really likes this girl but she feels too guilty to leave her boyfriend (they have too much history, etc). So he constantly questions "where is your boy, I hope he is a gentlemen". "He won't find out..." meaning that he won't ever know that she cheated but he wants her more than her boyfriend. She hates him for being such a dick boyfriend but she can't leave him. -
classic case of boy-leaves-girl-after-getting-what-he-wants. so she's all alone and the narrator is all like sarcasticly saying "hope he shows up" cuz old boyfriend ditched her and he's cheating. But narrator boy likes her for who she is cuz " you were the last good thing about this part of town ". and basically the rest o the song is narrator boy saying how she needs someone who will actuall y not treat her like crap.

I think that the guy is in love with a girl but she's never taken the time to notice him, the verses are saying how he's so much better for her and how he knows that he should tell her that. The chorus starts off almost mocking her and finishes off with him saying that she's wonderful and he loves her.
-
my take on it is a guy likes a girl and the guy got turned down by the girl. the girl got another date and then got stood up by the second guy. 'where is your boy?' being a reference to her getting stood up by her new boy friend

"Where is your boy tonight? I hope he is a gentleman."
I think this refers to the fact that The boy falling for a girl with someone else, is hoping that she has someone worth her while.
"When I wake up-
I'm willing to take my chances on
The hope I forget that you hate him more than you notice I wrote this for you."
I think this means that the boy is trying to tell the girl how awful her boyfriend is. And how she doesn't realize it, and needs convincing.
"You Need Him .. I could Be Him
I could be an accident but I'm still tryin
And thats more than I can say for him."
He could be just as good, or better than he is. And trying to be better than her boyfriend could be a mistake. But the boy in love with her is still trying his best to win her over, while her boyfriend takes her for granted.
"Someday I'll appreciate in value
Get off my ass and call you
In the mean time I'll sport my brand new fashion
Of waking up with pants off at four in the afternoon"
I think this means that someday the boy will look back and find reasons as to why it was good that the boy and girl didn't date. But until then he'll show everyone he's sick of caring.
This is just how I interpret the song. -
I think it's about a nerdy or unpopular guy that likes this girl(they could possibly be friends) but she's in love with a popular guy who's a massive jerk but she doesn't realize that because she in "love" but then she notices that he doesn't treat her the way her "love" should and that he's may be cgeating in her or he just doesn't like hanging out with her and she notices that the other guy treats her the way she wants to be so she falls for him and sorta cheats on her man with the guy who has the secret crush on her
-
I think its about two friends: a guy and a girl, and the girl is in love with a different guy and she can't stop talking about him to her friend. But what she doesn't know is that he is completly in love with her("The hope I forget that you hate him more then you notice, I wrote this for you"), when the other guy that she likes doesn't even know she exists. And when she finds out that the guy she likes doesn't like her("We'll find out.") then she goes to her friend and vents to him("You need him, I could be him.") And when their together he keeps bringing it up("Where is your boy tonight?") But in a way he makes her feel better(Maybe he won't find out what I know: You we're the last good thing about this part of town.") which is also making the other guy look like a jerk for not liking her because he friend knows all the good things about her and what she's actually like.

Where is your boy tonight?
I hope, he is a gentleman..
And maybe he won't find out what I know:
You were the last good thing about this part of town..
*well I think the narrator was kind of an outcast and he was dating this girl until she dumped him for the towns "golden boy" he thought she was different than all the other girls who liked this guy and he is very dissapointed that she turns into a "sell out"*
When I wake up-
I'm willing to take my chances on
The hope I forget that you hate him more than you notice I wrote this for you (for you, So)
*well here it gets kinda confusing and I'm not 100% sure but I think he is saying that even when they were dating she would just talk about all the things she disliked about this guy and she has spent so much time hating him that she doesn't even realize he wrote a song for her*
You Need Him .. I could Be Him
I could be an accident but I'm still tryin
And that's more than I can say for him
*she needs a "perfect" clean cut boyfriend and he is so in love that he is willing to change himself to be with her*
Where Is your boy tonight?
I hope, He is a gentleman..
And maybe he won't find out what I know:
You were the last good thing about this -

I think it's a pretty clever, yet revealing title. "GRAND THEFT AUTUMN". Perhaps the writer is trying to STEAL a girl named AUTUMN away from the other guy (the jerk). Just my interpretation, but i could be completely incorrect. I am incredibly inarticulate.

my first thought was it was about a kid who's like mom or something was a hooker. like a little kid. but thats jus me

ith a girl who already has a boyfriend, but the boy knows that the boyfriend is cheating on her. “Where is your boy tonight?” is question the boy is asking the girl to ask where her boyfriend is. “I hope he is a gentleman,” means that the boy hopes that the boyfriend is kind to the girl he’s cheating on. “And maybe he won't find out what I know: You were the last good thing about this part of town,” maybe the boyfriend won’t find out that the girl is the best thing in the town.
Woo hoo, Lee!(forgot this in first interpretation...sorry) -
