Fall Out Boy: Dance, Dance Meaning
Song Released: 2005
Dance, Dance Lyrics
Barely stuttered out
"A joke of a romantic" or {just} stuck to my tongue
Weighed down with words too over-dramatic
Tonight it's "it can't get much worse"
Vs. "no one should ever feel...
-
its about a guy who goes to homecoming with a chick then gets ditched and is two quarters(the cost of a vending machine condom) and has a broken heart
-
ok ok. you frickin idiots. yes pete wentz is the bass player but he does write the majority of the lyrics including this song and patrick who is the lead singer writes the music. ya know the music that the instruments make not the actual words.
-
I think this song is more about not facing reality than "oh the girl cheated on poor Pete". Yeah, the girl was probably cheating. They clearly can't talk about it (she says she's no good with words but I'm worse) and he's hoping that she'll admit it (you always fold just before you're found out). But they may be too hesitant to change anything (these are the lives you love to lead). I always thougt of is as, well, our relashionship is just about finished but if we keep dancing -- or playing this game, as someone above said -- we can pretend that eveything is OK.
Oh, yeah, someone also said that Patrick Stump wrote the lyrics: no. He writes the music. -
Its about a girl breaking up with him
" She says she's no good wiht words but Im worse"
when somebody breaks up with someone there allways like, I don't now how to say this, but he is even more sshcocked and doesn't know what to say
"barely stuttere out a joke of a romantic or it just to my tongue"
he's not exactly sure what he said
" weighed down with words to overdramatic"
take that litterallly , his responses are all cheesy and cornny, like the next line
" tonight its I can't get much worse, vs. no one should ever feel like" -
this song isn't hard to get at all! it's obviously about the lead singer and how he was at a football stadium and had a sudden and STRANG urge to dance. He couldnt hold it in any longer and he just BURSTED during half time. duhhhhh that's where they get "dance dance we're falling apart to half time" get it now idiots ... gosh
-
Look! I don't really know about much of the song but in the chorus dance, dance is used as a metaphor, you see in dancing the guy leads, and apparently he dosen't lead well the relationship or whatever it is, "this is the way you'd love to lead"
-
Ok, no one has mentioned this yet, so I should.
It's mainly jsut about the title, "dance, dance"...
Many people say it is either about a dance or moving on, but I think it is about the girl in the song being controlling. Think about it - "dance, dance, and these are the lives you love to lead!" you know, like the guy is a puppet and she is the puppet master, or something along those lines. Then once you get that concept into your head, the rest of the song kinda makes more sense. Well to me anyways... Just a thought! -
Everyone is missing the point yess it's a phone call at first he hangs up...'i'm two quarts and a heart down' but I also think he is writing a letter cause he can't talk to her on the phone 'these words is all so I'll write them'
and I also think this girl didn't give it up to this guy cause 'why don't you show me the little bit of spine
you've been saving for his mattress, love' basically saying you didn't give it up and you are saving it up from him and 'i only want sympathy in the form of you crawling into bed with me' is saying he only wants sympathy if it's gonna result in sex of some kind
and dance, dance mean all you have to do is just dance cause you just got your heart broken so all you have to do is dance cause you can't dwell on it.... -
Erm, for people who think Pete Wentz is a guitarist...they are wrong. He's the bass. I know I'm not blind, and he has amazing vocals. He was the vocals in his last band if any of you people have heard them...

I'm two quarters and a heart down
And I don't want to forget how your voice sounds
These words are all I have so I'll write them
So you need them just to get by
Here is the meaning of the whole "I'm two quarters and a heart down..."

What does "im two quarters in a heart down" mean?
answered by Peter on 2006-02-01 17:58:00
i was trying to through to someone on a payphone, it was a 50 cent call from where I was to them.
Then he's saying he's gonna write to relieve his sadness and express himself, as Pete does. -
It's funny how people remain anonymous when they're talking crap about the song. If you don't like it, move on. Anyway, your interpretations really helped me. I thought the song was a nothing but a bunch of random rubbish until I read the lyrics, and then these interpretations.
-
"Why don't you show me the little bit of spine/You've been saving for his mattress (mattress, mattress)" Why do you even need somone to interpret this. It sounds prity selfexplanitory to me? "I only want sympathy in the form of you crawling into bed with me" Okay now this is even more so. Do I need to say more?
-
I think that the song is about this guy who meets this girl at a bar. The guy likes the girl and dances with her but the girl doesn't take him seriously enough.
The girl may see a man she likes and the poor guy may get jealous. The two quarters could mean that he's wasted two quarters on a jukebox. It could also be concerning a football game that is on. At the end of the game the man ,who likes the girl, may leave with the girl. If the game is over and he hasn't won the girl's love then he's lost. -
I think that this song is about Pete Wentz ex-girlfriend cheating on him and she only when out with him because she felt sad for him and he now it but this is wat I think so watever I don't really care I just wanted to say don't over analyze the song what I think is probaly wrong but if everybodys really that interested in what it means why don't you people ask the person that wrote the song PETE WENTZ by sending a fan letter or something gosh and if you don't like this band then you don't need to listen to their music I mean I understand its your opinion and all its just that some ppl totaly freak out and are all like ppl who listen to such and such are fags or emos etc. So if you don't like a band then why do you wasted your time leaving messages saying that this is a bad band etc etc.(get a life) like seriously gosh
