Fall Out Boy: 7 Minutes In Heaven Meaning
7 Minutes In Heaven Lyrics
With anyone who will lie down
I'll be stuck fixated on one star
When the world is crashing down
I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type
But you've got me looking in...

#2 top rated interpretation:OK, first...
Yes, Ataven-Pete-OD-depression...accurate.
but that's just like a blanket to describe his overall feeling.
Fall Out Boy has mostly songs about relationships...i mean they are borderline emo...dont get me wrong, theyre awesome, but emo nonetheless.
the song is about relationships and how people use sex and relationships as a means of relief and simultaneous self destruction. Sex and atavan are both tools he uses for relief, this song just makes that connection -

#3 top rated interpretation:"What does being straight edge have to do with who he sleeps with? Straight edge means they don't do drugs/drink alcohol. He can sleep with whomever he wants..."
Another part of straightedge is no promiscuous sex. He can sleep with whomever he wants, but doing it just to ease the pain is breaking edge.
It's about how he almost ODed anyway -
Fact: Almost 99& of emo songs during its days in the 'hip' circuit are about quarreled lovers
-
The song is talking about loving one person and ur trying to get them but you cant so u sleep with other people to make her/him jelous of you.
-
Ok I don't think this is about Pete trying to commit suicide because I thought his suicide attempt came when he was 27 (it's another one of their songs) I know he OD'd on atavan and the 7 minutes in heaven is referring to how Pete felt when he OD'd the drug it was 7 minutes when he escaped the pains of the world it has nothing to do with girls or the game 7 minutes in heaven although when they say I'm not going home alone cuz I don't do too well on my own may be the confusing part but it is simply saying he doesn't want to be alone because he's scared he'll OD again
-
This song describes Pete and his overdose on Atavan a drug for bipolar disorder, and anxiety, leaving him in the hospital for 7 days.
-
I think there are two versions of the song, the other version starts, "i've been gone more days this year then I have been home" if this is just another FOB song then pleeez tell me

"I'm sleeping my way out of this one
With anyone who will lie down"
He's sleeping (the sexual type of sleeping not like snore sleeping) with pretty much anyone who's willing to do it, in order to get over his last girlfriend.
"I'll be stuck fixated on one star
when the world is crashing down."
He's so obssessed (for lack of a better word) with this girl that he pretty much doesn't care about anything else.
"I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type
but you've got me looking in through the blinds"
He's trying to tell himself he's better than sleeping with just some girl, but with the situation he's in he's starting to get second thoughts.
"Sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you
I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well on my own"
He really wants to just get over this girl, so he decides he's just going to find a girl willing to sleep with him and take her home. He says he doesn't do too well on his own, making a reference to his attempted suicide.
"The only thing worse than not knowing
Is you thinking that I don't know
I'm having another episode
I just need a stronger dose"
He's saying he knows that she's sleeping with another guy and he thinks it's pathetic that she thinks that he doesn't know because apparentally it's pretty obvious, and he turns to drugs to ease the pain. -
"I'm sleeping my way out of this one
With anyone who will lie down
I'll be stuck fixated on one star
When the world is crashing down"
He's still in love with a girl who broke his heart so he's going to sleep with any other girl to make his self feel better. He'll be focusing on sex with her instead of his sadness about the girl who broke his heart.
"I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type
But you've got me looking in through blinds
I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type"
He keeps telling his self he can get over her if she doesn't care but he knows he can't and as a result, spies on her.
"Sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you
I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well
Sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you
I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well on my own"
He's trying to forget her but can't and is stuck in his own misery. He doesn't want to go home alone because he's afraid his depression will cause him to do something extreme (such as suicide).
"The only thing worse than not knowing
Is you thinking that I don't know
I'm having another episode
I just need a stronger dose"
As in a lot of his songs, the girl left him for another guy but she thinks he doesn't know. He does. He says that this is just another episode of his and he needs to take a stronger dose of his antidepressants to feel better as a reference to his suicide attempt. -
Atavin = anxiety medicine.
Take the "ata" out of (Atavan Halen)... You get Van Halen.
It's just word play. The medicine is Atavin, not Atavan.
It's a song about an overdose... That's strongly reflected in the title (7 Minutes in Heaven [Atavan Halen]) and in the line "I'm having another episode. I just need a stronger dose."
And his insecurities/etc altogether, as most of darling Pete's lyrics reflect.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I don't know if anyone even reads this thread but please reply back.
"7 minutes in heaven" is basically a game where people are coupled together, and they have to make out, no strings attached. Basically like spin the bottle.
Therefore it relates some peoples points of him just wanting to sleep with other girls no strings attached, so he'll forget the girl he really likes. -
It's about Pete tried to kill himself once with drugs. He was almost killed, I really glad that he survived, because he couldn't write the best songs ever anymore...
-
I know for a fact this ones about Petes feeling when he OD'd on atavan.
-
It's about Pete Wentz's suicide attempt! they wrote it about that, because he overdosed on a drug called "Atavin", hence the name "7 Minutes In Heaven (Atavan Halen)"
-
"I'm sleeping my way out of this one
With anyone who will lie down "
He would sleep with anyone just to forget about her.
"I'll be stuck fixated on one star
When the world is crashing down"
He will be obssesed with her forever.
"I keep telling myself
I'm not the desperate type "
He tries to convince himself that he doesn't need anyone, but clearly he's inlove with her and would do anything just to be around her.
"Sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn't you "
He watches other girls, but it only reminds him of her.
"I'm not going home alone
Cause I don't do too well on my own "
I feels lonely, so he goes to bed with any chick that wants to.
"The only thing worse than not knowing
Is you thinking that I don't know "
She cheated on him, she thinks he doesn't know, but he knows.
"I'm having another episode
I just need a stronger dose"
This woul mean a lot of things like:
1) He miss her, so he has to see her, talk to her.
2) He only thinks about her and it makes him really sad, so he decides to take a pills for the anxiety (ativan)
