Fall Out Boy: Dead On Arrival Meaning
Song Released: 2003
Dead On Arrival Lyrics
'cause i'd never say no to you
this conversation's been dead on arrival
and there's no way to talk to you
this conversation's been dead on arrival
a rivalry goes so deep between me
and this loss of sleep over...

#1 top rated interpretation:It's pretty simple to interpret this song.
"Hope this is the last time, cause I'd never say no to you." Is simply the chick continuously saying," Do you forgive me?" Because she keeps cheating on him. "This conversation's been dead on arrival." means that the conversation is going nowhere and he is tired of her saying sorry." And there's no way to talk to you." Means he can't talk to her about how he really feels about her cheating on him. For example, he might want to call her a friend-banging slut. "A rivalry goes so deep, between me and this loss of sleep over you." That he's tired of arguing and it's really starting to get to him. "This is side one, flip me over." I think this stands for that she hasn't seen (or heard) the last of him. "I know, I'm not your favorite record." Means she doesn't like him as she likes one of the guys she's cheating on him with. "The songs you grow to like never stick at first, so I'm writing you a chorus and hear is your verse." Bacilly means, she might half to listen to this song a couple times to realize it's about her and the guy would write an entire chorus just to teel her how much he hates her. "No, it's not the last time, cause I'd never say no to you. This conversation's still dead on arival" means she'll keep cheating and he'll keep forgiving her. -
hello,
this song speaks to my soul and to be honest-it's also very relevant to my personal life at the moment. I believe this song is about a person pete really loved but knew isn't good for him. This person does awful things and drains him emotionally, but he can't say no to them. "I know it's not the last time.. cuz i'll never say no to you"
He is in a way addicted to this love-interest of his and can't get out of the loop of forgiving him and giving him another chance every time.. that's why the conversation is "Dead on arrival" and there's no way to talk to her.
or.. maybe that's just me. -
I always thought the line "The songs you grow to like never stick at first," was about how feelings for a person grow over time after you get to know them better and that "so I'm writing you a chorus and here is your verse" was what he found he liked about this person over time..

They're talking about the band... It's like they're talking on a break-up

Well I think this song is about a guy who likes this girl who is messing him about, and he can't say no her, because he loves her to much, but she also likes some other guy, and he is finding it hard to talk to her because of this other guy, and the convo is going no where, and he is basically trying to say, 'give me a chance I can be just as good as this other guy!!' and the guy is losing sleep over it because he really wants her so bad!

I also think it could be about a girl who he really likes but she's really shy and won't open up. ('There's no way to talk to you')
