Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet Lyrics

Mr Sandman showing his beam,
When he walks into a room,
Walls lean in to listen.
Surf out bank waves,
Click back and forth,
Like old headlights sniffing model glue again.

Head like a steal trap wish,
I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I...

This song takes its title from the famous MLB baseball player Pete Rose who was known for taking headfirst slides. He was set to be inducted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, but he was caught placing bets on games.

As for the song, it's about a guy who's in love with a married woman. She's in her marriage only for the material things (Does your husband know the way / that the sunshine gleams from your wedding band?) and is also cheating on the song's "narrator" with someone else (I will never end up like him / behind my back, I already am).

I got a feeling it has something to deal with cheating or something for one the line "I will never end up like him behind my back I already am." Duh another word this women is cheating on her husband "does you husband know the way the sun shine gleams from you wedding band"

This is another one of FOB's "I'm jealous of your boyfriend" kind of songs.

"Does your husband know the way
That the sun shine gleams from your wedding band?" -He believes the girl's spouse isn't treating her right.

The title of the song refers to a famous baseball player Pete Rose, who was busted for betting on his game. He was called a cheater. Perhaps the song title was to imply the "other guy" is unfaithful and a cheater?

"I will never end up like him
Behind my back I already am" -He promises to be faithful but he isn't sure if he is himself.

"Keep a calender this way you will always know" -When most people cheat, they do it when their spouse is working or busy. Maybe the 'calender' is her schedule.

"Its a sign its a sign its a sign its a sign its a sign but if you peaked early..." -This refers to the taboo that if the groom sees the bride's dress before the wedding day, the marriage is doomed.

That's what I got out of it. I could be wrong :/

"Keep a calender this way you will always know"

I think that the man is cheating on his wife but the the wife refuses to accept it. If she kept a calendar, she'd realize the pattern of when her husband is gone to go have an affair with somebody else.

Pete said that it's a love song told from the perspective of the hips.

I'm not so sure but I'm gonna try to interpret this song anyways.
Okay so this guy and this girl are friends. The girl is married and her husband doesn't appreciate her and love her like he said he would when they got married. The guy who is the girl's friend is telling her that her husband isn't being faithful and he is really suppose to be with her.

I'm not quite sure what the song means. I think it's about how some guy and girl are in love but she's married and her husband doesn't appreciate her like he says he could (does your husband know the way that the sunshine gleams from your wedding band?) and he's trying to prove to her that he's the right one for her. The title refers to the demise of a famous baseball player from the 60's. Pete rose was famous for sliding "headfirst" into home plate. The baseball hall of fame is called "coopers town". His team was in the playoff's and if they won, pete was going to go into the baseball hall of fame. He felt pretty sure that they were going to win, so he bet on his team. but they lost, and he got caught betting, so he was disqualified, and he didn't get into coopers town.
