Fall Out Boy: I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me Meaning
I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me Lyrics
And you're the only place that feels like home
Just so you know, you'll never know
And some secrets weren't meant to be told
I found the cure to growing older
I'm the first kid to write of hearts, lies,...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:I believe this song is about a girl the narrator knew or had a crush on when he was a kid. And he meets her again after a period of time. "I found the cure to growing older" means he wants to go back to being kids, the way things were because he misses her, "And you're the only place that feels like home"
but he won't tell her he still feels the same way about her like he used to. "Just so you know, you'll never know
And some secrets weren't meant to be told"
he refers himself as a kid because he wants to back to the young love and innonence they once had. because she has changed, he feels she is inferior, "And I've got arrogance down to a science " arrogance is defined as - overbearing pride evidenced by a superior manner toward inferiors.
This girl has changed now that she has grown up. Changed in a way that is not respected by the narrator. Hence the chorus "Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's
So fitting, so fitting of the way you are" Ans she can't hide how much she has changed into something she shouldnt have become, "You can't cover it up
Can't cover it up"
What she has become is a dead end. Hence the chorus
"Find a safe place, brace yourself, bite your lip
I'm sending your fingernails and empty bottles you've sipped
Back to your family cause I know you will be missed
So you can find a safe place, brace yourself "
"But for what we've become, we just feel more alone"
they are alone, don't have each other anymore
"Always weigh what I've got against what I left"
he had her once and doesn't have her anymore
"So progress report: I am missing you to death "
so he misses her old self so much...and signifies the end of it(death) -
I was startled to see how everything fit with this -- it sounds as though he killed her.

i probably interpreted this all wrong because i don't see any1 with the same explanation but maybe...
"i found the cure to growing older, and ur the only place that feels like home. Just so u know u'll never know. some secrets weren't meant to be told." This "cure to growing older" could be anything from suicide to sexual interactions. But he doesn't want to tell this girl because she's already changed so much he's afraid of her changing her personality again. shes the only "place that feels like home", which could be referring to them as lovers or just friends. Either way he cares about her in his own way and doesn't want her to change.
"I'm the first kid to write of hearts lies and friends. And I am sorry my conscience called in sick again. And i've got arrogance down to a science." This part is kind of contradicting because he says he's sorry for the things he did without thinking, but he's not ashamed of saying things coming from his arrogant nature. As i said before, he cares about her in his own way. but he's going to try to do everthing he can to make her stay.
"Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's so fitting of the u r. You can't cover it up." This girl, who seems to be infamous for such a drastic change in her personality or whatever, tries to do something that will change her into something the narrator doesn't want her to become. dousing herself in perfume means changing her "identity". My guess is that this perfume is cheap only because she's done this so many times before she can't afford expensive (metaphorically). She can't cover up what she's done probably because the way she's changed herself made it so everyone knows her name.
"Find a safe place, brace yourself, bite your lip. I'm sending your fingernails and empty bottles you've sipped back yo your family 'cause I know you will be missed." This probably means the girl would want to make the change but inside knows it might be difficult. The least the narrator can do is send these "sentimental" gifts back to loved ones as something to remember her former self by.
"They call kids like us vicious and carved out of stone but for what we've become we just feel more alone." This line is pretty self-explanitory, i think. These people are thought to be cold-hearted but they feel alone because this arrogance/lies/ personality changes potentially occur in everyone, but it's only noticeable in certain people.
"Always weigh what I've lost against what I left." This line is commonly mistaken as "Always weigh what I've got against what I've left," which makes sense but does not portray what the narrator was trying to say. I think it means that he knows some bad things he couldn't help, while some bad things he could've done something to prevent. He feels better when he recognizes the things he couldn't have stopped and tries to fit the girl and her personality issues into that category.
"So progress report: I am missing u 2 death." The obvious explanation would be that he misses her so much it couls ultimately lead to death (suicide). Another explanation is that once he realized how much she's changed, he becomes sad, depressed, almost like he's dead. And he realizes how much he preferred it when she was still around rather than moping in a death-like trance.
"Someone old, no one new." It seems the narrator knows that, despite the fact she's changed so much, the girl he used to know is still in their somewhere.
"Feeling borrowed, always blue" I'm hoestly unsure about this one....
So this is my take on the song :3 -
Wow, my interpretation of this song is totally different from any of the explanations i read here. To me this song is about how it feels to love somebody and put your trust in them and then they let you down.
"I found the cure to growing older
And you're the only place that feels like home
Just so you know, you'll never know
And some secrets weren't meant to be told
I found the cure to growing older"
Clearly, there is only one cure to growing older, suicide...
And you always were my goto place, but now I know you never understood me
And I'm not gonna explain these words to you,you should know me well enough to understand my secrets.
I found the cure to growing older
"I'm the first kid to write of hearts, lies, and friends
And I am sorry my conscience called in sick again
And I've got arrogance down to a science
Oh, and I'm the first kid to write of hearts, lies, and friends"
Yeah I think I'm the only one that ever feels like this (somewhere I know I'm not but I don't care)
And I am sorry for saying things that hurt you (no I'm not)
And I am so much better than anyone else (no I'm not)
I think I'm the only one that ever feels like this...
"Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's
So fitting, so fitting of the way you are
You can't cover it up
Can't cover it up
Go ahead, cover your real self, this perfume is fitting; it's cheap, just like you.
But I can still see who you are, can't cover that up
"Find a safe place, brace yourself, bite your lip
I'm sending your fingernails and empty bottles you've sipped
Back to your family cause I know you will be missed
So you can find a safe place, brace yourself"
I don't know how, but go and hide because I will get you
Once I do, I will send your nailclippings and the empty bottles I am still keeping because you sipped them to your family, I don't need them anymore
So go hide because I will get you
"They call kids like us vicious and carved out of stone
But for what we've become, we just feel more alone
Always weigh what I've got against what I left
So progress report: I am missing you to death"
You all think kids like us are vicious and dón't feel a thing
But really, the way we are just makes us feel more alone
I only seem to see what I left and what I've got is always worse then that
That is why I am missing you to death
"Someone old
No one new
Feeling borrowed
Always blue"
I only think of you
There's still no one new
But you used me
Now I'm always blue -
"Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's so fitting, so fitting of the way you are, can't cover it up can't cover it up." Cheap perfume is very strong and you can smell it easily. so this line is indicating she can't cover up the lies and B.S.

"I found the cure to growing older" She's really fun, she's what he needs.
"And you're the only place that feels like home " He only feels safe and comfortable with her.
"Just so you know, you'll never know" But she doesn't understand him at all. She has no empathy.
"And some secrets weren't meant to be told " We use to gossip about secrets. but this one is pretty bad.
"And some secrets weren't meant to be told
"I am sorry my conscience called in sick again" He feels like he's a bad person.
"I've got arrogance down to a science " He's difficult and narcicist.
"Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's
So fitting, so fitting of the way you are
You can't cover it up "
She hurted him, he's angry. She's a whore or something and she can't help it.
"Find a safe place, brace yourself, bite your lips" It's like: enjoy your last 24 hours.
"I'm sending your fingernails and empty bottles you've sipped
Back to your family cause I know you will be missed "
She's trully beloved.
"They call kids like us vicious and carved out of stone"
People say they're not good company, like, they're bad people.
"But for what we've become, we just feel more alone " But what happened made them split, so they don't even have each other.
"Always weigh what I've got against what I left" I think he miss her.
"So progress report: I am missing you to death " Here's the prove.
"Someone old
No one new " He feels really lonely.
"Feeling borrowed
Always blue " He feel like he depends on her and now that she's gone, he is really sad. -
It seems to me that this song is about sex with groupies on the road. Being lonely, she keeps him comforted, feels like home. She's the cure for growing older because there's no real commitment there, and commitment means responsibility and growing up. He hates himself for using her, so he has to push his conscience to the side, and he'll never tell her how much this "meaningless" tryst affects him. In fact, he has to lash out at her ("cheap perfume") because he's angry at himself.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This is my take on it and it has more to do with a friend rather than an ex-lover or some such. I think it's about someone who has become something that they are not. "Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's So fitting, so fitting of the way you are You can't cover it up Can't cover it up". The douse yourself in cheap perfume, I believe says that the person is hiding who they really are. The singer is telling the person that they don't care, that if that is how they are going to be then so be it. "And I am sorry my conscience called in sick again".
-
I think that "I found the cure to growing older" means that he has broken a proposal to this girl... like he doesn't have to grow older with her. Sort of at the end of the song
"Someone old/No one new/Feeling borrowed/Always blue" It goes back to the whole wedding thing. The girl has been cheating on him with someone old and he found out about it hence the break up. The song is basicaly about a girl that he fell in fake love with.
-
I am pretty certain he is saying that they are saying this girl they are speaking of is a cheap whore with the line "Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's So fitting, so fitting of the way you are You can't cover it up Can't cover it up" and he does not feel bad about saying it about her because he has "arrogance down to a science." He also says that she won't be missed even if she was dead because she is so skanky "Find a safe place, brace yourself, bite your lip
I'm sending your fingernails and empty bottles you've sipped
Back to your family cause I know you will be missed
So you can find a safe place, brace yourself."
