Fall Out Boy: My Heart is the Worst Kind of Weapon Meaning
My Heart is the Worst Kind of Weapon Lyrics
for the corpses of all my past mistakes
sell me out - the joke's on you
we are salt - you are the wound
empty another bottle
and let me tear you to pieces
this is me wishing you
into the worst...
-
I think taht the song means that the guy's girlfriend cheated on him, and he thinks he should hate her a lot, but is hesitant.
The first verse is saying that he is thinking about how this ended worse than other breakups (I spent most of last night dragging this lake for the corpses of all my past mistakes) Then, he says how mad he is at her. ( sell me out - the joke's on you we are salt - you are the wound empty another bottle and let me tear you to pieces this is me wishing you into the worst situations)The last part is saying while he "can't let anything go" or he gets carried away sometimes, but he still thinks he's better than the other man. (but you wouldn't know a good thing if it came up and slit your throat)
The second verse is all about how even though she says she's sorry, she is still cheating, and now she'll "get it"
Your remorse hasn't fallen on deaf ears rather ones that just don't care cause I know that you're in between arms somewhere next to heartbeats where you shouldn't dare sleep Now I'll teach you a lesson for keeping secrets from me)
The chorus isn't as gory as people think it means that he wants to undo when they had sex, as in have her take back her saliva from when they kissed, or take her skin back from their contact. The last part is when he is sarcastically saying that she should control herself and say no, even though it's good at the time, it's bad in the long run. (Take your taste back peel back your skin and try to forget how it feels inside you should try saying no once in a while oh once in a while)
The final verse is saying how he wants to be mean and basically massacre her, And did you hear the news? I could dissect you and gut you on this stage not as eloquent as I may have imagined but it will get the job done (you're done)) but he just wants to have her heart broken, even if it means hurting the heart of the guy she's cheating with. (every line is plotted and designed to leave you standing on your bedroom window's ledge and everyone else that it hits that it gets to is nothing more than collateral damage)
So, that's it, kind of lengthy but you get the point -
all i can say is, this song iz frickin harsh... peel back your skin? gut you on stage? dang. i think i heard pete say in a interview that he regrets writing that song, it sounds to mean or something like that
-
This song has to be about a relationship gone wrong!
-
Plane and simple. You break my heart, my heart will kill you!
-
First off I know this is tweisted but I think song is about a girl who is married or seeing someone then goes out and has an affair with a guy, the writer of the song.
I spent most of last night dragging this lake
for the corpses of all my past mistakes
-he is tellin how he's tryin to figure out how he couldnt tell or why he didn't ask her if she was seeing someone,
sell me out - the joke's on you
we are salt - you are the wound
-she cheated on her boyfriend with him but truthful she is the one getiing hurt because the more she thinks about it the more it hurts.
empty another bottle
and let me tear you to pieces
this is me wishing you
into the worst situations
-he's bassically sayin drink down more alcohol and let him tell her how wrong and stupid she is for doing what she has done
I'm the kind of kid
that can't let anything go
but you wouldn't know a good thing
if it came up and slit your throat
-he can't let go of the fact that she didn't tell him and that the good thing is her boyfriend in which she cheated on.
Your remorse hasn't fallen on deaf ears
rather ones that just don't care
because I know
that you're in between arms somewhere
next to heartbeats
where you shouldn't dare sleep
-this is saying that she keeps telling him that she knows what she did was wrong but he doesn't care because he knows she is still with the man she cheated on and won't come clean to him.
I'll teach you a lesson
for keeping secrets from me
- saying he's gonna keep bringing her down for not telling him about her man
Take your taste back
peel back your skin
and try to forget how it feels inside
-saying he don't want to taste her anymore.
peel back her skin and get out what she keeps under her skin(confessing to her man)
try to forget how it feels at keep it held back.
you should try saying no once in a while
oh once in a while
-tell him no I don't want to be with you because I am already in a relationship.
And did you hear the news?
I could dissect you
and gut you on this stage
not as eloquent as I may have imagined
but it will get the job done (you're done)
-sayin he could cut her down through songs and others not as well as he would like to but it will the job done.
every line is plotted and designed
to leave you standing
on your bedroom window's ledge
-saying that every word he says he hopes it leaves her up at night wondering if she should tell her man or not
and everyone else that it hits
that it gets to
is nothing more than collateral damage
- sayin if it changes her personallity towards others than its just a part of it
Take your taste back
peel back your skin
and try to forget how it feels inside
you should try saying no once in a while
oh once in a while
-same as above.
thats just what I think it's about I may be wrong..
feel free to leave comments or corrections.

A guy has a girl friend cheating on (I know that you're in between arms somewhere next to heart beats where you shouldn't dare sleep) he wants pay back (I'll teach you a lesson for keeping secrets from me)
-
"I spent most of last night dragging this lake
for the corpses of all my past mistakes "
He stayed up at night writing this song and thinking of his time with her.
"sell me out - the joke's on you
we are salt - you are the wound
empty another bottle
and let me tear you to pieces
this is me wishing you
into the worst situations
I'm the kind of kid
that can't let anything go
but you wouldn't know a good thing
if it came up and slit your throat "
He hates her, despises her, blah blah. She cheated on him. I don't think he wants to get back together; the line "I'm the kind of kid who can't let anything go" to me suggests that he is actually upset with himself for not being able to just movie on, and for harboring this hatred.
"Your remorse hasn't fallen on deaf ears
rather ones that just don't care
because I know
that you're in between arms somewhere
next to heartbeats
where you shouldn't dare sleep
I'll teach you a lesson
for keeping secrets from me"
She's sorry and wants to be with him again, realizing how great he is. But he will have none of it, because he knows that however sorry she is doesn't mean she won't do it again.
"Take your taste back
peel back your skin
and try to forget how it feels inside
you should try saying no once in a while
oh once in a while"
He wants everything about her to be gone from his life. He also wishes she had thought of his feelings and not cheated. He also probably, with the "peel back your skin" either wants her to die, or show her true self, or something creepy and sexual. I'm not entirely sure there.
"And did you hear the news?
I could dissect you
and gut you on this stage
not as eloquent as I may have imagined
but it will get the job done (you're done)
every line is plotted and designed
to leave you standing
on your bedroom window's ledge
and everyone else that it hits
that it gets to
is nothing more than collateral damage"
He wrote this song to show her his true feelings and reveal to the world how she truly is. He basically is saying "I jsut ruined you with this song." He also suggests he wants the lyrics to drive her to suicide and he is so determined for this to happen, he doesn't care how others feel/might be affected, or how his fans would react.
And then I already explained the chorus. -
The title explains it all...pete is thinking about this girl...and how he writes all these songs about her and that's how he gets back at her...thru lyrics...which makes his heart the worst kind of weapon.....
"spent most of last night dragging this lake
for the corpses of all my past mistakes"
-dragging the lake means somebody is looking for something
"sell me out- the jokes on you
We are salt- and you are the wound
Empty another bottle
And let me tear you to pieces
This is me wishing you
Into the worst situations
I'm the kind of kid
That can't let anything go
But you wouldn't know a good thing
If it came up and slit your throat"
-that part is about him writing the lyrics
"Your remorse hasn't fallen on deaf ears
Rather ones that just don't care
cause I know
That you're in between arms somewhere
Next to heartbeats
Where you shouldn't dare sleep
Now I'll teach you a lesson
For keeping secrets from me"
-even tho this person wants to make their wrong doing right he doesn't care. He knows that she doesn't really mean what she says.
"Take your taste back
Peel back your skin
And try to forget how it feels inside
You should try saying no once in a while
no once in a while"
-he doesn't want her taste. She doensn't have real feeling. She doesn't say no to men..
"And did you hear the news?
I could dissect you
And gut you on the stage
Not as eloquent as I may have imagined
But it will get the job done(and you're done")
-he has a stage to get back at her
"Every line is plotted and designed
To leave you standing
On your bedroom window's ledge
And everyone else that it hits
That it gets to
Is nothing more than collateral damage"
-all these songs are directed towards her, even if some ppl use interperet differently...
thats what I think of the song... -
Well most of you go for the obvious interpretations about the cheating girl friend and that very well may be true, but I think it goes deeper than that just imagine if you will...
Did you ever stop to may be reconsider that it's about someone that you've given your all to and they have (how to put this politly) "screwed you over" so to speak and you have had enough so there for its time to get your payback or what ever you would like to call it
Now once again I'm not sayin I'm right or your wrong but I'm just sayin try to look at it from a different p.o.v and because of the nature of the beast we all want to assume that it's about that girlfreind but what if its not?? -
Your remorse hasn't fallen on deaf ears
rather ones that just don't care
because I know
that you're in between arms somewhere
next to heartbeats
where you shouldn't dare sleep
I'll teach you a lesson
for keeping secrets from me
Definitely about a cheating girlfriend and how he wants to get back at her. -
I think this is about when his GF cheated and how he says that he was a good thing for her but she didn't notice what she had "but you wouldn't know a good thing/if it came up and slit your throat"
And how he hopes she gets punished for it:
"This is me wishing you
into the worst situations."
He also is pissed that he kept forgiving her:
"I spent most of last night dragging this lake
for the corpses of all my past mistakes"
That's what I think anyways. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
