Fall Out Boy: Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash Meaning
Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash Lyrics
And I'm always the last to know
My insides are copper
And I'd kill to make them gold
Conversation got me here: another night alone in the city
So make my bed the grave and shovel dirt onto my sheets

#1 top rated interpretation:"I am such a sucker, and I'm always the last to know
my insides are copper, I'd kill to make them gold
conversations got me here
another night alone in the city
so make my bed the grave and shovel dirt onto my sheets"
-- I think that the first line means that his girlfriend always told him lies and he bought them all, making him a sucker. He's always the last to know because his friends knew she was cheating on him but he didnt. His insides are copper so he can't talk to her about it because he doesn't want to hurt her, but he wishes he could.. Hence him wanting his insides to be gold. The conversations got him there because he tries to talk to her but she denys it, and he knows he can't win with her
"every friend we ever had in common, I will sever the tie with you, you can thank your lucky stars, everything I wished for, will never come true."
-- I think this means that he wants nothing to do with her or the friends they shared, and the lucky stars part means that he wanted to be in love with her and he wished she'd love him back, but she never did.
"When you go, I will forget everything about you"
-- self explanitory. He wants to forget about her.
"I have seen sinking ships go down with more grace then you."
they broke up in the worst possible way. She cheated, and that's worse then seeing a sinking ship go down.
"Conversations got me here
another night alone in the city
so fake it like you matter, its a lie we can both keep"
-- he tried to talk to her again but she fakes it and tells him she's not cheating on him but her denial doesn't matter anymore because he knows the truth. but he doesn't tell her he knows the truth, so they are both keeping the lie to themselves. -
Even the title of the song has meaning, "Sending Postcards From a Plane Crash (Wish You Were Here)"meaning he wishes she was on the plane that crashed, and died.

I think that it is about a break-up that was so awful, he felt like his life was over. Because of it, he lost all of his friends and felt completely worthless "my insides are copper i'd kill to make them gold." He wants to get revenge, but knows there's no way to get back at her "You can thank your lucky stars that everything I wish for will never come true." Way sad song1

I completely think this song is about getting dumped by someone you really thought was amazing and then feeling useless, hurt, angry, and pitiful at the same time. The author feels sorry for himself and like he's not good enough (my insides are copper and i'd kill to make them gold). But also really upset and angry at the person for tearing his heart out.

Fake it like you matter-that's a lie we can both keep-MAGIC!!!!! hehe

"Every friend we ever had in common, I will sever the tie, sever the tie with you"
This song is about hating someone after a breakup so much, you lose some of your friends so you never have to talk to your ex ever again.
"when you go I will forget everything about you."
Very emo and heartbreaking, but at the same time, it's cruel and satisfying.
