Superman (It's Not Easy) Lyrics

I can't stand to fly, I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find the better part of me
I'm more than a bird, I'm more than a plane
I'm more than some pretty face beside a train, and it's not easy to be me.

I wish that I could cry, fall upon my...

I can't stand to fly, I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find the better part of me

(the singer is saying that even though he can do things he doesn't perfer to. he's also saying that he's not as naive as everyone thinks he is. He just wants to understand himself.)

I'm more than a bird, I'm more than a plane
I'm more than some pretty face beside a train, and it's not easy to be me.

(he feels that he's more than everyone thinks he is, and, despite the fact people think his life is easy, it's not.)

I wish that I could cry, fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie about a home I'll never see

(he wishes that he could show everyone how he feels, but knows that he can't. he doesn't feel that he belongs where he happens to be at the moment.)

It may sound obsurd, but don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed, but wont you conceive
Even heroes have the right to dream, and it's not easy to be me.

(he says that even though he's supposed to be perfect, he's not. he wants to be free from everyone's expectations.)

Up ahead, away away from me
Well it's all right, you can all sleep sound tonight
    I'm not crazy, or anything.

(this part sounds almost like a conversation between him and another person. the other person is telling him that he's a lot of trouble and wants him to go away. he says that the other person can sleep easy because he's not crazy.)

I can't stand to fly, I'm not that naive
Men weren't meant to ride with clouds between their knees

(this is a continuation of the first couple of lines.)

I'm only a man in a silly red sheet, digging for Kriptonite on this one way street

(he says that he's "only a man in a silly red sheet", or not really what he appears to be at first glance. there's also some mention of suicide, or at least wanting to get out of what he's in.)

Only a man on this one way street looking for special things inside of me.

(he simply wants to be special on the inside as well as on the outside.)

I'm only a man looking for a dream
I'm only a man in a funny red sheet, and it's not easy..
It's not easy to be... me.

love that song. I think there are many meanings and messages in the song, but the main one i would say is that even the most powerful of people feels weak sometimes.
Responsibility can be exhausting if it's always expected of you.

Describes everyone struggle, meeting others expectations that are greater than yours. Even Jesus Christ prayed at the garden of gethsemane for God to change the redemption plan. Yes, I even see Jesus Christ in this song. Thank God Christ surrendered his thoughts and boldly died on the cross for us all. He was truly the only SUPER-man the world has ever known.

Oddly enough. When I first heard this song and every time since, I thought it was about a person on the plane that was deliberately crashed on 9/11.
    Funny how different minds work.

Its is all about the man that everyone knowns that his/her is a perfect person . That he/she can do whatever she/he wants . Other person can only see the word perfect for him/her . Everyone have their very impressive expectation for him/her but what the song says "he's just a man " he/sje made a mistakes like everyones did. He/she made a wrong decision because he/she is just like us , a normal person . . so he/she just want to express for anybody that he/she belongs to us . So person must be understand him/her also that maybe he/she are have a standard in life but also he/she is just a man created by God .

About a person who maybe everyone thinks is great or has the perfect life. Underneath this person is searching for the "better half of him". He has not found what will make him happy in life yet. He's still searching and tired of pretending.

This song is about a man who feels he has lost himself and feels he has just blended in to the shadows. He believes people expect too much of him and wants to get away from that. He also is trying so hard to please everyone else that he has lost himself.

This song also has been thought of by many Criminal Minds viewers as Aaron Hotchner (Hotch)'s Song.

In a continueation of my former post, I think that this song describes the life of a teen very well, how we feel that nobody understands us and really knowing what we want.
