Fort Minor: Remember The Name Meaning
Remember The Name Lyrics
You ready?! Lets go!
Yeah, for those of you that want to know what we're all about
It's like this y'all (c'mon!)
[Chorus]
This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure,...

#1 top rated interpretation:Yes I do believe that the song can be seen as a soliloqoui about the band itself, however, I believe that when you look deeper into the lyrics itself it serves 2 meanings:
(1) an appelation and motivational song for everyone who wants to change something about them selves, as well as a reminder that working hard is the only way to get where you want.
(2) an example given and appreciation towards EMINEM, who has worked very hard to get to where he wants, dislikes fame, never shares much about his personal life, works so hard that he gets high of rapping and legit hypnotized by his skills / ability (thus the addiction problems). He has also been able to overcome his addiction problems, won every rap battle to date, come back stronger and better after each album, topped all of his names (which he signed himself in his lable "Shady Records"), and is basically the most beast and successful rapper to date.
Thus, whilst the song can be interpreted to be about the artists themselves, I believe it is about (1) motivating people to be better, and (2) providing and example of such a better person! -

#2 top rated interpretation:This is a song about how everyone should now sit up and take notice of Mike and his crew. It's in the 3rd person view, so it's how people would view them (Mike, Ryu and Tak)
It's a song that 'introduces' Mike Shinoda, who has brought along all his mates to make a side-project album. This is Mike getting back to his hip-hop roots (before LP) and just having fun, while working their asses off trying to put together a good album. -

#3 top rated interpretation:This song is about 3 guys who will do everything they can to be the top rappers. This is the obvious interpretation BUT what most people do not realize is that this song goes much deeper. If you have ever heard anything about someone being sooo good at something that when they do it they are pretty much in a trance or hypnotized, and this song talks about this a lot! Some examples ( its like a design that's written in his head every time before he even touches a key or speaks in a rhyme, and those motherfuckers he runs with the kids that he signed, its ridiculous without even trying, how did he do it? ) there are others, think about it, and listen to the song, you will see why I'm right.

This shit is literally about mike himself, its a self absorbed song and he gets his friends to diss him and compliment all in one verse. I mean guys come on, the man has a song called "mikes gonna mike" but god damn this song is catchy
-
Every time I listen to this song (even the very first time) I can’t help but feel like it’s about Eminem, if you listen to their lyrics and compare it to his life and his songs you’ll see a lot of connections that support the idea
-
1.I think it's Eminem "who the hell is he anyway he never really talks mutch" Eminem doesn't talk about him personally 2.eminems awesome
-
I think this song is about kobe because of the lyrics he set the west in flames and kobe's work to get to the top.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
It's about me... I think.. M. Heal... Like many other songs.. Cinderella man.
-
its about Dre, "I like bleach" "You won't believe the kind of shit that comes out of this kids throat" "Partner in crime" "eight years in the making" "People keep asking him was it given at birth or does it stand for an acronym?"
-
i think there talking about 2pac one of the best rappers rip.and on their perspective on him e especially the line west flame. as 2pac highlighted westside music and style.
-
I feel this song could be about a number of artists and most likely is. I originally thought of Eminem/Dr Dre since Dre already had a successful career before signing Eminem and others. Then I thought further and realized the guy performing the actual song is one of the lyricists from Linkin Park and the other guys are "nobodies" as we would call it.
So basically I believe this song is just about being the best and making it, and all the people who can't believe it and who acknowledge such an accomplishment. -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I thought the song was about Dr Dre because he is a producer signs people and has " a partner in crime" talking about Eminem
-
Personally every time I listen to this song I keep coming back to Eminem because if you listen to the song and compare it with him it makes a lot of scense.
-
I thought it was about eminem for three main reasons. One, it says, "he doesn't need his name up in light..." and Eminem is constantly saying he doesn't like the fame. Two, it says, "dropped Megadeath took em to church I like bleach man why you got the stupidest verse..." and Eminem clearly bleached his hair. Three, it says, "... The kids that he signs it's ridiculous without even trying how does he do it?" and Eminem is a part of Interscope records and the head of Shady records.
-
I think its about eminem and the way he works and his struggle to the top
-
If anyone honestly thinks its about sports and not musicians you are not listening at all to the lyrics
