Glee Cast: Not the Boy Next Door Meaning
Not the Boy Next Door Lyrics
-
I think that, at least the way Kurt sings it, it’s about someone growing up as a kid where people think he’s straight and after he’s moved out he comes out as LGBT+. When the lyrics says ‘I can’t come back here anymore cause I am not the boy next door’ and ‘Coming home used to feel so good. I’m a stranger now in my neighborhood’ and ‘I am not the boy next door. I don’t belong like I did before’ I think it means that the singer isn’t comfortable going back to where he grew up because he wasn’t accepted, and ‘I am not the boy next door’ could either mean he’s not who he used to pretend to be or he’s not like any other kids/people in that neighborhood, meaning that everyone else there is straight, or at least pretends to be. I know there are other opinions out there. This is just how I interpreted the song when I heard ‘Glee’ sing it.

This song is more different but I like looking up different camps for writing music with Jonas brothers and have fun at the camp.
