John always teased paul about love songs, especially the tune Yesterday, so this was basically telling John, that you think what you want and i'll keep writing the love songs because people want to hear them and I love writing them, this was Johns bad time while McCartney worked his butt off writing albums and going on world tours. Besides, let's be honest John wrote some mush love songs too!
