Gordon Lightfoot: Beautiful Meaning
Song Released: 1972
Beautiful Lyrics
-
Very rarely do we get to hear this exquisite jewel of a song on the airwaves,& this indeed is Gordon Lightfoot in his pomp & dispells any misconception that Gordon is chauvinistic in outlook or behaviour(& I realize he disowned 'For Lovin' Me' which for mine is just an exhuberant mia culpa re his hot Scorpio nature & Joni Mitchell shared that trait of seeming fecklessness & she was never accused of subordinating men!)When in 'Beautiful' Lightfoot sings of 'I'm so lucky just to have the right loving you with all my might' he makes you KNOW he means it,& when he sings of her constancy & laughing eyes & smiling face you KNOW there's an unbreakable bond both ways & he adores her. Joe Cockers dirge 'You Are So Beautiful' & James Blundells 'Beautiful' are despite being played to death, pure drivell in comparison,& when DJs worldwide start to grow some cahunas & an intellect & heart to match,we may start to hear imaginative emotion again over the radiowaves!Rod J Baldwin
