   The song was written for Adrienne Nesser Armstrong by Billie. He wrote it after he had his first kiss with her. The exaggeration, "2000 light years away" was said due to the fact that Billie lived in California, and Adrienne lived in Minnesota. Adrienne had said in an interview that it happened in her bedroom. The kiss was important to Billie, since he usually planned tour dates in Minnesota just so he could see Adrienne.
   After a while of calling and meeting up with one another, Adrienne and Billie had finally kissed. Thus, the creation of the song, 2000 Light Years Away.

   Billie Joe and Adrienne were having a long-distance relationship. He was in California, she in Minnesota - the distance wasn't exactly too long, but Billie Joe naturally exaggerates it. Anyway, they really got a hold on each other and they are sure they will never let go.

   Billie Joe kissed Adrienne when he was on tour in Minnesota, so the concept of the song means that Billie lived in California, while she lived in Minnesota, he cares for her more than anything, and its like 2000 miles/km away, but speaking of miles and km, Billie doesn't want the song to be kicked off probably, so it was 2000 Light Years.
