Harry Chapin: Taxi Meaning
Song Released: 1972
Taxi Lyrics
I needed one more fare to make my night
A lady up ahead waved to flag me down
She got in at the light
Oh, where you going to, my lady blue
It's a shame you ruined your gown in the rain
She just looked out the...

lost innocent love that comes back like in a fairy tale that was meant to be; a second chance but both of their prides prevents them from getting "what they wanted" a long time ago; motto; if you get a second chance at happiness,,,take it!

I think the song is a man & a woman who are dating, but then life happens and they break up! A couple years later, the two reunite, only for them to realize that they're just much too different for them to date again!

With my 2 cents opinion, this was and still is a great realistic story written into a song sung by HARRY CHAPIN[r.i.p] who is not forgotten and needs to be remembered that he truly cared about world hunger to see that the money went to the hungry and the poor. Unfortunately the good do die young to many times. In ''taxi'' there is innocence lost in time to a young couple when dreaming about who they would've liked to become in their future. Harry wanted to be a Pilot and fly and Sue wanted to be an actress. While both learning about love in the back seat of a dodge then, and then both soon after departed from each other. Where many years later unexpectatly picking her up as a passanger, where Harry is now a taxi driver in high hopes and Sue is a wealthy married woman ''pretending'' to be ''acting happy''. Maybe this is why she feels like dying inside 'cause she isn't really happy for not being genuinely in love. All the while both are thinking about the time when both got what they wanted[freelove] that was left behind, before going forward to find their dreams they believed will bring them fame and happiness. This lost love innocence in time spend with each other caught up to them in the end as a lost love song left up in the air without staying together, to be at the mercy of the Most High to what would happen to Harry and Sue. Only throughout time to be reminded to remember the first time seeing the ''taxi driver'' movie, thinking of it as the hijacking of this song brought down and turned for mk ultra mind control body snatching with a ''taxi'' that roamed through the gutters of nyc. Converted the taxi driver into a phycological political assassin, but with a caring heart for the young prostitude and what she was becoming that tarnished, perverted and dirtyfied Harry Chapin's song in the whole process. Talking about plagerizing this story song. Where ''there's a wild man, wizard he's hiding in me illuminating my mind''. Replaced by a robotic mind controlled ''taxi driver'' made movie that was artificially illuminated and programmed to say things like the quote of what Bruce Springsteen said ''you talkin, to me? you talkin,to me? who do you think you talkin to? you talkin, to me? I'am the only one here? Believe that god forgives our sins ''if'' we truly repent, but He never forgets who committed them.

May Harry Chapin always [r.i.p] the great story teller in this song ''Taxi'' that was one of the most popular songs in the 70's as the Protaganist being a taxi driver that captured the dreamers and the realists that were expierencing and learning about love in the backseats of cars in a world where the times for some was to get high and stoned. They wanted to enjoy life by what goes up must come down and what goes around comes around to see that they both got what they wanted a long time ago, but maybe not exactly what they needed in the long run of their lives for the love to truly blossom.
