Pour Me Out Lyrics

Wake up in the morning
It's not so bad
I can taste you on my lips
And it makes me sad
There's a part of me that just wants you back
You're the one thing I want that I never did have
That I never did have, oh no

Fill me up
Steam me...

I think this song is about a girl in love with a boy. She wants the boy to give her his love and attention.

my basic interpretation of this song is about a girl who was led on by a guy but she loves him so much that she let him do whatever he wanted, but after a while he just left her. here's a lyric-by-lyric -

    Wake up in the morning
    It's not so bad
I can taste you on my lips
    And it makes me sad

-she wakes up a morning after she either slept or had an amazing date with him, and she wakes up feeling like he was hers, but then she tastes him on her lips and she remembers that he's not really.

There's a part of me that just wants you back
You're the one thing I want that I never did have
That I never did have, oh noo

-so deep down she knows that he was never going to stay and that he wasn't any good for her, but she grew up always getting what she wanted and no one can fix this for her. she also knows he's not coming back

    Fill me up
    Steam me up
    Hear me shout
Tip me over and pour me out

-this is the part where he's leading her on, and then totally breaking her down: think of it like making tea that you dont end up liking-- fill me up (with false hopes), steam me up (keep feeding me lies), hear me shout (this is when i think she says something to him about love or something that he wasnt serious about, and it jumps out at him), tip me over and pour me out (and then he leaves her, he got too invested or something. thinking about tea, if you made tea and just poured it out after you had recently steamed it, it would be hot but everything around the tea would seem cold) sorry for the tea metaphor. moving on!

    Pour me out
On the concrete next to your feet

-continuing with the pour me out, she repeats it, so that means that it probably was a painfully slow letdown. and next to your feet shows how much he thinks of her.

Do I have to cry out
    Can you hear me
    Oh just to be
    With you

-shes doing all of this just to give herself the illusion that she is or could possibly be with him, but he still doesnt care.

    Oh gosh this bed
    It feels so cold
My head was led by the lies you told

-this is the part where shes lying in the same bed where he told her lies (maybe like he loved her), and shes enjoying it because she can pretend liek it was real.

But to this day my heart you stole
In a bind left behind waiting for your call
-so even after he left her, presumeably for somone else, she still loves him and would take him back in a heartbeat, and she's still half convinced that he's going to call and come back to her

Find me outside sitting in the rain
On the curb in pain my heart is breaking
You look at me holding on to a dream that filled me long ago,
    But I'm still waiting.
    I'm still holding on

-this is the part where she finally realizes exACTLY what was going on, but refuses to give up all hopes of ever being with him again

the song ends with some more painful repeats of the chorus/prechorus, each time i think she sounds like she's a little more content, and each time its sung with a little more understanding and anger as well =)

this was my first interpretation, so don't be too harsh ahah GREAT band though
