Imagine Dragons: Bleeding Out Meaning

Bleeding Out Lyrics
So if the last thing that I do
Is bring you down
I'll bleed out for you
So I bare my skin
And I count my sins
And I close my eyes and I take it in
I'm bleeding out
I'm bleeding out for you
For you
When the...

I think this song can be interpreted in two ways:
1. as a partially suicidal mission to stop this person, either literally or sacrificing social life for someone.
2. as a suicide note, about cutting because feels like he is ruining someone's life.
Also, could be singing about that he would do anything for either revenge on this person or to save them. -
I think this song has to do with him falling in love with a girl who may not love him back, or may always make him feel like he is inadequate. He feels as though as he is being pushed away then brought back, but he doesnt care. He is hopelessly in love and professes that no matter what he will do anything to keep her happy, even though it is never enough.

I believe it points to Jesus for these reasons "I'm bleeding out for you" He did bleed for us he counted his sins and took up ours and when it says the scarecrow part Jesus hung on the cross like a scarecrow

The way I interpreted it was that he was sacrificing himself to stop/take down the person: "so if the last thing that I do, is bring you down, then I'll bleed out for you". There are also clues that he has bad feelings for that person/maybe even betrayed by that person: "but innocence is gone, and what was right is wrong". And this line may be taken as either he is protecting the person or his job is to scare the person away: "When your eyes are red, and emptiness is all you know, with the darkness fed, I will be your scarecrow."

this song is amazing but it kinda sounds like selfharming or something cause its like so i bare my skin and i count my sins and i close my eyes an i take it in but yeah thats just my opinion

Whenever I hear this song, I can't help but think about the Bible and Jesus. Everything points to it. From Jesus 'bleeding out' on the cross to it being the last thing that he does. I see it as Jesus is counting our sins and baring his skin to take the punishment for ourselves. Regardless of the actual meaning of the song, it is very beautifully written and very well sung.

I believe he is singing about coming to terms with reality and seeing things for what they truly are ("but innocence is gone, and what was right is wrong") . But also seems to be singing about wanting to protect someone(lover/sibling/friend/etc) from loosing their innocence as well, no matter how futile the wish is he is willing to shield them from the pain of reality ("i'm bleeding out, if the last thing that i do, is bring it down, ill bleed out for you").
