I believe this is an argument a good person is having with their anxiety and/or depression,begging for mercy and deeply distraught by lashing at their loved ones. A friend is the one saying look out for yourself. The line "I think about the powers at play" is the sense of being puppeteered by an evil stranger you get from anxiety.

Um to be honest this is what I believe I think this refers to how the world can be two-sided since there are people who think that every one is their enemy while some others enjoy their misery.You got to just watch out for yourself but just know sometimes you can't even trust yourself or the people you love to hang-out with.I just think about it could mean but I could wrong about it.

I think it’s kind of a vent song where he’s just letting out his inner emotions because he feels like no one live him and then he runs away and becomes evil.
