The Moment I Said It Lyrics

"The Moment I Said It"

The moment I said it
the moment I opened my mouth
lead in your eyelids
Bulldozed the life out of me
I know what you're thinking
But darling you're not thinking straight
Sadly things just happen.... we can't.........

I interpreted the 'moment' to be her confrontation of his either drug or alcohol abuse. The 'lead in your eyelids bulldozed the life out of me' is his complete disregard for her feelings. Anyone who has ever had to confront a person with an addiction can relate to the often abusive/explosive approach they take to being told what they are doing is wrong and destructive. He then takes the car keys, calls his dealer, and plans to leave while under the influence and with 'no hesitation'. When she tries to stop him, he becomes violent (the 'smash' of fists). She realizes in the end that, despite her pleas that they can work it out together, he is choosing his addiction over her.

I think it is about the singers parents splitting when she was twelve. It seems to be written from the perspective of a child and one of the parents (or both?) The moment I said it, could literally mean when one parent suggested a divorce? And it sent the other into a rage of pain and anger which escalated to violence. Smashing items? Trying to leave? Ringing maybe a hotel or a friend to stay with or a lover? The repeated Byes at the end are beyond sad. Anyway it’s just my thoughts.

she is talking about her past and finds it hard to get over and there is something that is lingering in her life which holds her onto the past that she is trying to let go and over come.

I Think this is about a drink driving and a couple arguing..
but it seems like se keeps getting abused but she keeps thinking it'll get better.
I can also see that people are telling her that they don't like it and they have a bad feeling.
But she puts all her trust in him.. thinking things will change. And one day it just went out of hand..

I feel that the song is about her telling the person she loves that she cheated on him, and felt guilty about it. He then gets angry and is hurt by what she said and she keeps saying they can fix their relationship together and that she kissed the other person out of anger towards him because she wasn't happy with their relationship, but the person she loves is filled with so much anger and betrayal that he hesitates to stay with her or not, but ends up giving her up with no hesitation. She then realizes that he never loved her enough to fight for what they had and has to say goodbye.

I see... Her significant other is depressed. She shocks them with unfortunate news of a tragic event, like the death or hospitalization of a loved one. He starts acting strange, and tries to leave. She fears he is going to commit suicide. She is begging that he stay, and is afraid because this is a new side of her love she has never seen before. The "Smash" could be him escalating to anger and starts hitting THINGS, not her. Her begging turns to pleading, and threats. "You're going to throw it all away". Meaning their life, and his own life. The finally "Smash" could be the car door.

She told her significant other something tragic or even just something important that he didn't want to hear. She starts to regret it because she sees he doesn't really care too much, and tries to leave, and she feels she's made a mistake so she tries to change it by reitterating they can fix it together, but he's a psychopath so she's scared of him physically hurting her... I could be totally wrong, but who knows? It's perception

She has a boyfriend and she ends up getting pregnant. And that is something that he completely doesn't want. She knows he doesn't want the child, but she does. She thinks that if she tells him he will get mad and leave her. And then when the moment she says it, he does leave. And she's pleading telling him to think it through. But he doesn't, and storms out.

A married girl and her husband. They have just received news that their son has been kidnapped. The husband is freaking out and wanting to drive and look for the boy. However the husband is so upset he's blinded for the fact that his wife needs him now more than ever.

I really want to know the REAL meaning, is there an interview of imogen saying the real meaning?

It sounds like she dropped some bad news or said something hurtful to the one she loves and it hurt or angered him so bad that he wanted to leave to take a drive somewhere to clear his head. He probably was so angry that Imogen felt he should sleep it off or calm down.
