Jennifer Hudson: Where You at? Meaning
Where You at? Lyrics
That you would be there with your umbrella to block the rain
And you said you'd protect me
From heartache, pain, lies, loneliness, and misery
You said you'd tear down the walls that were in my way
You promised...

The song is about God not about a guy. Listen to it.

She is talking to GOD!!!! alot of people would miss this one. The song is about GOD! listen closely to the lyrics.

My interpretation of this song is basically she was going with this guy and she believed he was the right guy for her because of what he said but he couldn't deliver all that he promised."I went to sleep on the cloud and woke up in the dirt" I say that's saying she woke up to reality and finally relizing that the guy wasn't all that he said he was.

My interpretation of this song is that I think there was a couple that had the best thing together. Everything seemed so perfect and flawless. This guy was willing to give her the world, be there for her and do anything for her, to keep her protected physically and mentally. But then she sees that he is not the man for her. he is a liar. he never keeps his promises and he hurt her real bad. When she says "Where you at?" she doesn't mean it literally. I think what she is trying to say is like where is that thing; the love; special thing between them? What happened to all those promises and stuff like that. She wants a real man and he wasn't it. she wasted her time thinking he would keep his word.
