Jethro Tull: A Hunting Girl Meaning
A Hunting Girl Lyrics
And crossed a field to go
By where the hounds ran hard
And on the master raced
Behind the hunters chased
To where the path was barred
One fine young lady's horse
Refused the fence to clear
I unlocked the gate,...

Hunting was originally with a knife, it's quarry was blood and semen, the desire to subjugate yourself is calling out "I am Sick" a form of honesty in Latin America.

It sounds this song is about the master of the races daughter who was conditioned to be one elite ''Hunting Girl'' with a very liberal ideal freedom of education. Hunting on her horse with the hounds on her tail, chasing the fox I could only guess through the fields of a Farmer[could be a peasant, serfer or slave] that ''she unexpectatly came upon'' to be entertained by his wit when her horse couldn't jump the gate on that certain part of the trail. So while he opened the gate, she waited for the rest of the pack to pass ahead. And then graciously was let and set down of her horse where at first sight she acted upon her instincts of sexual passion for this witty individual that thought of himself as a ''normal low born so and so'' that only came by the side of the trail to watch ''the master race'' and only by the luck of the hat got interrupted and trumped over in outdoor pleasure.

After a 'chance' encounter, an exalted lady condescends to school a humble farmer in the refined art of love making. After some initial experimentation, he decides that her practices may prove to be injurious, so, he politely excuses himself and returns to his plough. Apparently, the song is intended to mock British aristocracy. If I read 'between' the lines, I get something like this.
Having been schooled in Oxford, she reads Latin, speaks French, and recites Shakespeare. He, on the other hand, is a country hick who can hardly read and write, let alone do simple arithmetic. Gracious and elegant, she delicately holds her fork with her left hand. Crass and boorish, he doesn't even know what such an instrument is for. Now, which of the two do we expect will turn out to be the sexual pervert?
My personal reaction? HILARIOUS. I like the instrumental work too. The flute is light and delicate, conveying at times a floating sensation, and the percussion matches well with a horse's gate. I like the guitar work, but I'm not quite sure just what feeling is expressed by the grinding and whining.
