In ancient Norse mythology, seals were used by the gods to traverse the arctic wastelands of Burundor. Six or seven seals were harnessed together in a 'Svagbard' and controlled by a young maiden with a large whip. I imagine Ian likes a good whipping by a frosty young maiden now and then.
