Jim Croce: Time In A Bottle Meaning
Song Released: 1973
Time In A Bottle Lyrics
The first thing that I’d like to do
Is to save every day
Till eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I’d save every day...
-
I thought it was about loving the closest person to you.

Jim wrote this for AJ after his birth because he was on the road 10 mos. of the year and rarely saw him. Remember... no cell phones, you went to the telephone booth and plunked in whatever the operator told you it would cost to complete the call then she connected you.
-
I sang it at a vows renewal ceramony,I thought it was appropriate...but my fiance' didn't quiet get the meaning. Someday it will dawn on her just what was meant by those lyrics.I just learned the real meaning of the song... but it still could be interpreted as a love song for commited devotion for the one you love.
