Kings of Leon: 17 Meaning
17 Lyrics
Wine and Whine and wound up over everything
Bloody Mary breakfast busting up the scene
Brothers frightened, when's a baby gonna sleep
Hidden ship two sails away
Said it's a culmination of a story and a goodbye...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think its about a romance with a 17 year old spanish girl. There's something about her that is so lowering and attractive and keeps him coming back for more despite her age. She is represented as mature with her knowledge of alcohol yet can be immature or rather acting her age (17) at times. The girl has older protective brothers so there is a forbidden love involved.

#2 top rated interpretation:Sounds crazy, but I wonder if its about king Henry the 8 and his marriage to baron spanish Queen Catherine and subsequent affairs with the young Bolen girls. One of which, Anne, played hard to get and managed to convince him to get rid of Catherine and banish her own Bolen sister who had mothered his only male child, and break from the catholic church and marry her! She achieved this under the promise that he would finally get to bed her, and that she would bear him a son. When she miscarried, she tried to get her brother to sleep with her in an attempt to become pregnat so the king wouldnt know she lost the child.
