   I was lost after my sister passed in 2014. This song is how i feel. Until the walls come down i could not begin to live again.

   First verse for me is about my wife that has cancer.
   (I can't make it on my own
   You can't leave me here alone.....)
   Staying by her side through it all
   (I'm just trying to do what's right)
   We are fighting the fight
   Second verse is about another woman, my first love. I have never told my wife about her.
   (I could never point you out, wasted space in a faceless crowd)
   Me trying to keep her in me life.
   (Tell me what I have to say)
   Both of us knowing this can't work
   ( if you know what right then you'll walk away)
   
   ( when the walls come down)
   I put a wall around my heart when we found out my wife will die of cancer and my x chips away at that wall...
   
   (One by one I've seen them fall, some just don't show up at all)
   That's taking my wife to chemo and seeing all the people in there last days and then next time maybe an empty seat where they have passed.
   (I'm just trying to fight the fire, mans not a man unless he has desire)
   That goes back to my x and how I long for a woman's touch again.
   
   ( took a wrong turn and found surprise awaits)
   That's again referring to my x and talking about our past and that we still love each other.
   ( now there's nothing in our way)
   This line hurts, as it refers to when my wife will die and there will be nothing stoping me...
   ( you tore out my heart, you threw it away)
   That's everything wrapped in one line, the cancer, past breakup with x, my wife dying. All this stuff has ripped my heart out.
   First time I heard this song I cryed. It just mirrors my life right now and now I can only listen to this song alone.

   A man trying to fight his demons but "took the wrong path" with a girl with dark eyes and "found surprise awaits" .. she falls pregnant..."you tore out my heart you threw it away" what the man did to his wife and how he also now feels that he realised he "took the wrong path".. "I'm just trying to do what's right" he wants to make amends for his actions...when the walls come down ... how he let his guard down ... what happens when you throw caution to the wind...
