Lana Del Rey: Ride Meaning
Song Released: 2012
Ride Lyrics
You can be my full time, daddy
White and gold
Singing blues has been getting old
You can be my full time, baby
Hot or cold
Don't break me down
I've been traveling too long
I've been trying too...
-
You can be my full time daddy, white and gold
- Divine and Good that’s what white and gold personifies when phrased together. That’s what she’s getting out of a relationship with someone older. But she’s not singing the right song with them, the blues is not her cup of tea.
Whereas when she is with someone younger,
You can be my full time baby, hot or cold
- A very bipolar type experience affection or love. And it regrettably breaks her down.
Dying young and playing hard. That’s the way my father made his life an art. Drink all day and we talk till dark.
-She has a very weak father figure. One that drinks. Party’s hard. And her father was boldly displaying that as his character. She has a conversation with him, it’s a norm for her. Casual.
Drives until she sees stars in her eyes
-to calm the war in her mind
She feels crazy or tired of feeling that way
- This pain repeats itself, again and again
Been trying hard not to get into trouble so she just drives. Until she can shake it off.
This is a song in my view of her drunk dad, and how she tries to overcome the hurdles that come with accepting her dad as is. Especially through her own interpretation of herself. It affects her a lot. It impacts her a lot.

my interpretation of this song "ride" written by Lana Del rey is about a girl who's tavelling through phases of life , dealing with a mind thats not like others " i got a war in my mind" she doesn't understand her mind why it's doing this to her. she has to put up with something thats apart of her. she had bad experinace with other guys. scared they'll do the same as the rest. she cannot trust anyone anymore. "i'm tired feeling like i'm a fuckin' crazy" she doesn't understand this reality, confused on whats real and whats not in her spirtual journey. People thought she was cray, but she would've not believed her belifes unless it was proved right in front of her on multiple occasions, which it is. She wishes she was normal, but she has a different distiney to everyone her path will always be different. she fianlly accepted it and all her darkest fanasys, and now shes' free.

She is telling the story about her wild life. She sings about how she had to put her wellness and safety into others hands. I think she mentions being homeless and traveling on the rode a lot with random men. Some of which she may have fell in love with..maybe she fell in love with the freedom of it all. She is basically saying that she is crazy as hell but, she's freeeeee!
