Lee Brice: I Drive Your Truck Meaning

I Drive Your Truck Lyrics
-
I love all his songs an this one just makes my heart melt especially when I am down and I just want to be left alone especially the part that says "I drive your truck I roll every window down and I burn up every back road in this town I find a field I tear it up till all the pain Is a cloud of dust" and every time I hear that part it makes me think of how I could lose my anger by listening to that song and I would never forget it but really love the way he writes about how he miss his brother so much that he drive his truck to remember him but this songs reminds me of how I can sit in the car or drive to this song.
-
my husband says this song is about he lost his wife and he is driving her truck, but, I think it is about his brother.
-
I think he lost someone dear to him and he drives their truck to get out the pain.
-
I just watched the video. You can't know what the writer was thinking. The song comes out and say brother, and the picture of the two together are similar in age. So no matter the intensions it's about a guy who misses his brother who died while in the Army, and his mother ask if he visited the gave, and he say his way to remember is to drive his truck that uses a lot of gas. I would have liked it more if it was about his fathers truck, because my Dad recently gave me his old tuck because he can't drive anymore. So no matter what it was once based on, it has been altered to being brother.
-
If you would have heard what he had to say about the song and the meaning of it, you would know. The song is about a mother who lost her son in the war right after he joined the army. She is coping with it by driving his truck. It is not about a brother who lost a brother or father.
-
one of his band memebers heard an interview on the radio of a family who lost their son/brother one month after joining the service. When asked how they dealt with the pain they said they drive his truck, b/c they feel closer to him. That inspired the song.
-
No, the song is not about SFC Jared C Monti and his dad, but it was inspired by them. The song itself is clearly about a person whose brother died in the army.
-
This song is about the SFC Jared C Monti and his dad Paul. Jared was KIA in Gowardesh, Afghanistan June 21, 2006. He was awarded post humorously the Medal of Honor. His father still drives his truck and the song captures his pain of losing his son.
-
I think this song is about his brother who was killed in the army.
