    Ok...
People, you really need to listen to the song better, and if you knew anything about metallica, you'd know that the song is inspired by the motion picture "wolfen" and is about becoming or changing into a werewolf and a primoridal creature.

I was told the song came about because Kirk is a comic and horror movie fan and it is loosely based on Wolverine.

I know james is a hunter. James is a lot of things. This song has nothing to do with one of his hunting trips. Go to this site if you don't believe me:metallica master of lyrics, let me know what you think then.

No dude, sorry. James is an avid hunter and wrote a song about the hunter and the hunted after a "hunting" trip. It was his way to express his feelings in the mix and ultimatley where/why the charm of the wolf came to be that he used to wear around his neck during the black album days...mmmk?

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

It's about the wild instincts in every person since the beginning of time when man was beastlike and how we should explore our wildness every now and then. 'I hunt therefore I am, harvest the land.' 'I feel a change back to a better day, so seek the wolf in thyself.'
