Metallica: The Day That Never Comes Meaning
Song Released: 2008
The Day That Never Comes Lyrics
Better just stay down.
You pull away,
He hits the flesh,
You hit the ground.
Mouth so full of lies,
Tend to black your eyes.
Just keep them closed,
Keep praying,
Just keep waiting.
(Chorus:)...

After watching the music video Its about a soldier who's buddy was killed. And the soldier wants to get revenge but knows he can't.
-
All of you, go watch the damn video...seriously...the song's a story there is no meaning..
-
So i think u guys have alotta good interpretations, but I think this is a hardcore song about bullies! Look at the lyrics, its all about how he gets pushed around by these kids, and he wants revenge.
"I'll splatter color on this gray."
(my favorite line) is saying that maybe the best way to get revenge is by killing himself off, so the bullies would have his death on their consciences.
"I suffer this no longer!
I'll put an end to,
This I swear!"
This is saying that now is the time to somehow put an end to all the suffering and make the sun shine
:D -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I think its about war and a soldier getting shot and the day will never come for him Watch the video for this song on youtube and that will explain it better.

I think the song is about a man waiting for the day where he gets to go back home to his family

I think this song is about the 2nd coming of Christ. "The day" represents Jesus and the fact that he has not come. When will He come and what will it take. Towards the end of the video the Soldier looks up at the sky in a very questionable way. As if to say, when are You coming for us. Given the world today, War and so much killing, one would think this would be a good time to show.
