Song Released: 1995
Earth Song Lyrics
What about rain
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain...
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the...

The question is, who is MJ addressing?
don't tell me he's addressing earthly residents (humans) because this line " What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son..." says otherwise and the last 2 lines
" What about Abraham
(What about us)
What about death again" makes me believe he is talking to God. but I'm right, why did he sound like he's part of the problem by saying in this line "What have we done to the world".
what I think? MJ is complicated but if you are really a bible student and know the condition of the world right now, you may ask God even worst question that might sound disrespectful. but all I need is the answer. can't God just speak from heaven if he really cares or understand what we're (his faithful servants) going through just to encourage us?
I'm beginning to see MJ as a prophet, maybe of God or a rogue prophet of God because he sees beyond the ordinary eye can see. -
As Michael Jackson was raised as a Jehovah's Witness and the belief of a new world called paradise where no on can feel any pain, fear or sadness that one day the earth will become a better place and will one day be healed I believe the songs message is based on his beliefs.

How ever people may have negative impressions about the late king of Pop.His life is still a mystery to the world. If I could pass judgement to his songs.Michael's lyrics speak much of his conscious. He wasn't blind to his compositions as people say its all superstitious and demonic.indeed almost every of his songs is spiritually inclined if we pay close attention to his messages.Only people with spiritual prospects can agree with my claim. That Michael Jackson knows his God.He reads his words therefore even though his public life may have seemed to be of fantasy.Stop and take a look once more.Never will he not quote a line or two from the Bible.Never will he not even figuratively incorporate Biblical conceptions to his songs and most of all he didn't deny his own conscience which pays it off when he was at last break loose from the bondages fame. Until then his private life is with His faithful God who remember those acknowledges him before men,
and not with men or fallen angles....RIP MJ -

How much potential there is from the beginning of thought to where we are is sad and it is moving to see and hear this from Michael. We can do great and we can be so horrible. I hear "Earthsong" and hope for a more enlightened future for all the world. We have it within ourselves to be better than we are. An emotional piece of work this is for me. Thank you Mr. Jackson!

Anyone with a spiritual view can tell he is blaming GOD for all the evil , and he is promoting the luciferian agenda. Humans reject god and then when evil happens they blame him for our choices, he was a luciferian and this is a satanic song all the way.
-
earth song, Michael was actually blaming God, what about all the things that you pledge your only son was refering to Jesus Christ himself as the son of God. that song was a mockery song.
-
A Satanic song. In this song Michael blames God for all the troubles in the world. He mocks God, Jerusalem and Abraham in this song. In this song Mcuael in essence said to God, "...so much for your only Son whom you call the Prince of Peace...what peace? Look at all the wars, children dying, killing fields, weeping shores...?" At the end of the song he says to God concerning Abraham (to whom God said through him all nations shall be blessed)
"What about Abraham?
We don't give a damn!" -

i think that this song has many meanings but the main one that stands out is removing forests, results in lose of connection with wild animals.

I am a child of god and in this beautiful song where he says what about all the peace that you pledge your only son !!! He is refuring to god sacrificing Jesus on the cross for our sins that's what he is talking about Not the Earth as a the only son I mean come on even non religious people could get that part of the song and understand what it ment "pledged your only son " the holy son ( god pledgeing his only son Jesus) for peace and sacrificing him for our sins!! RIP Michael Jackson you are with god now hopefully people will stop all this greed and start thinking about the right thing! GOD and our Planet as well and what damage we are doing to one of gods gifts to mankind ( a beautiful home full of love and full of life) god bless and for those who feel or think that being a Christian is about throwing bibles at everyone who isn't one or that being one of gods children isn't cool and that you will be looked at diffrent that's ok I felt the same way but the new age Christians make life fun n not boring and just because ur walking the path of god doesn't mean u can't still live life and have fun doing it ! Don't be ashamed of who u are or who u can be because once u realize gods vision for you that happier and more blessed your life will be!!!!!!

this means that we did terrible things to the world and the phrase "your only son" refers to the earth and it also means that we were supposed to get sunrise, rain, and other stuff from the earth and keeping it from getting destroyed but we are all destroying it any way
-
when you first hear this song you would think that it is only about how humans wrecked the earth and how they don't think about how this would affect other people and the earth. but take a look at the lyrics and you realise how deep this song actually is!!! it is also about how war and death affects other people. it includes personification by saying "this crying earth" and "these weeping shores". it is quite an emotional song. poor seal i don't like seeing stuff die.
