Mika: Grace Kelly Meaning
Grace Kelly Lyrics
Do I repulse you with my queasy smile?
Am I too dirty?
Am I too flirty?
Do I like what you like?
I could be wholesome
I could be loathsome
I guess Im a little bit shy
Why dont you like me?
Why dont you like me without...

#1 top rated interpretation:Mika is actually his real name. It is really spelled with a c as in mica but everyone kept pronouncing it wrong so he changed it to a k.
This so is about how the music industry tried to change Mika so he would fit their mould and Mika felt as though no matter what they wanted from him, it just wasn't the real him. He didn't want to change for them so he stayed himself. -
He said in an interview he wrote it after a song he wrote was declined. He went straight home, and wrote it. They told him to be successful, he had to be mainstream with his first album, and then if it was successful, he could do his own thing.
The funniest part is that he was accepted by another company because of Grace Kelly. -
I think this song is about a girl who doesn't like a guy and the guy wants her too.
-
I think that he is saying that he will not change just so a few people like him when there could be a lot more who likes him as he is.

Mika acutally wrote this song after a song he wrote was declined my a record company. He wrote it when he was furious, so its a wonder how it turned out so happy. He is saying that people give up on him and his music without even challenging him to change and improve. Thats what all the questions at the beginning are asking.
-
Aside from the actual motive behind it, to me it means that someone won't accept him but he's versatile and can change but he doesn't want to be liked for his new way of being (arg did that even make sense??)

Wrote this song when the music industry wanted him to change in order to play his music.
