The way I see the song is that she’s saying she’s lost and doesn’t know who she is or where she belongs. That she flies away forever in search for where she belongs or who she is but knows that she never will. Because birds don’t know.

She sold her soul the the devil. "i dont know where my soul is, dont know where my home is" and this line "It's just that every time you try to tell me that you love me
Each and every single day I know
I'm going to have to eventually give you away"

I believe her child says they love her everyday, but eventually she has to pay the devil back. This interpretation of "boy" and Girl" just seems a bit off... as usual

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

She is talkin about a boy she luvs and he luvs her a lot too but she knows she will end up leaving him or hurting him "i'm like a bird, i don't know where my soul is,i don't know where my home is". She is very said and she wants to break up with him but she can't because she's afraid of hurting him. but she knows she will end up leaving him someday.

She is talkin about a boy who really loves her but she knows that she will end up hurting him by running away or leaving him. She is sad because she doesn't want to hurt him and she wants to break up but she doesn't want to hurt him. She is not serious about relationships she's more of the " I want to be a single lady" or the go from " guy to guy" girl.
