This song is about the sexual promises in life, and the electric urge that comes with it, for example, "Ooh, ooh, you got me in the mood, mood...." and so forth. The risks people take in their lives, the liberties of a party, and the obvious meaning of the title, "Sleeping With A Friend." He also talks about the trouble that comes with going out and "sleeping with a friend." He doesn't seem to be very worried about it, though. The overall message is the promiscuity of an party adult life.
