She should have had more time to spend

Written specifically about Kurt's sister in his father's voice but can be applied more broadly to any girl/woman who has experienced sexism within the family. A touching & rare piece of anti-sexist work by a male rock singer that shows empathy toward the plight of women.

Contrast this with other rock stars of the day like Axl Rose, whose stage name is literally an anagram for "oral sex", and you begin to see just how unique & special Kurt's viewpoint was (and still is).

This song is about hoe Kurt's father wishes his daughter was a son and how pissed he was about it. Kurt wrote this song on how his sister should've been a son, like his father wished for: her to have been a son.

q song can be sung by an orphan or a boy whose mother left his father..but more probable is she died or even he thinks she died even she's still alive for she upset him...he says then she should have made her mother proud=she got married

This song is about Kurts sister, Kim. Kurt believed that his dad wanted to have a son instead of a daughter.
