Our Lady Peace: Wipe That Smile Off Of Your Face Meaning
Wipe That Smile Off Of Your Face Lyrics
A silver cross
And some strength that you won't believe
See I'm not your friend
And I won't pretend
That I've come here for peace
Well I'm not afraid
I'm gonna make you pay
I'm gonna wipe that smile off your...

" See I don't like you or your attitude or the company that you keep .." I think this is about bush and how his attitude toward the war sucks. I think where Raine says that he doesn't like the company he keeps .. Is refering to the political aspect of the people george bush is associated with.
" it's just the two of us a silver cross and some strength that you won't believe " .. I think the silver cross reference is about the power of people who strongly disagree with the war .. not so much about religion but the power of beleif in what is right.
" the time has come to drop the bomb on all the pain you've been selling ..." this line to me .. means that its time people find out what the real reasons are bush is at war. "all the pain you've been selling " .. I think the word selling is significant because it shows that Raine isn't convinced with the reasons for war .. So it's kinda like he's saying he doesn't buy it. -
This song is about George Bush and how Raine (the lead singer) really extremely HATES him. It's also about how the war is completely unnecessary and stupid.
One of the lines is "I don't like you, or your attitude" that shows that he doesn't like him at all. I am 100% sure this is the correct meaning of this song because I've seen them in concert twice and every itme they played this song he said it was about Bush. The first time he introduced it by basically saying it's about george bush and how he hates him and so on. The second time, he started singing it and half way through started singing "there are 33 wars, can you name more then 2, there are 33 wars can you name more then 2..." and continued for a few more times then said" I know who can't name more than one or two, that's George Bush" then finished the song. At one point, he said "I'm going to wipe that smile off your f*cking little face"
While he was singing this song you could hear from the audience "fuck George Bush" from several people. After the song was over, the 1st time I saw them he went on about how Bush is an idiot, doesn't care about the lives of others, and only cares about himself. He said several times "fuck you George Bush" and several otehr things along those lines.
