Rascal Flatts: Here Comes Goodbye Meaning
Song Released: 2009
Here Comes Goodbye Lyrics
And it's not like her to drive that slow, nothing's on the radio
Footsteps on the front porch, I hear my doorbell
She usually comes right in, now I can tell
Here comes goodbye
Here comes...

#1 top rated interpretation:The song is pretty simple when you break it down. First we need to clarify that the connection to this video and the one for "What hurts the most" may or may not be a truth, but that does not matter. So my interpretation is that in the beginning the Grandfather and the Grandson are waiting on the daughter's arrival. When the daughter arrives she greets the only other living family member.....her mother. She then proceeds to the cemetery where her father and "possibly" her son is buried. This is clearly her first time at the cemetery, which means her father must have died while she was away. The last part of the video brings everything together. When the little boy says "Are you ready?" to the grandfather he replies with "What's it like?" and after a few seconds the boy says that there are "No more goodbyes." This signifies the boy welcoming the grandfather into the next life. It also clarifies that the grandson has been in heaven. The long and short of it is, the boy died first and the main focus of the video is on the Father's last goodbye to his daughter not vice versa. That's why the video starts the way it does.

#2 top rated interpretation:This song is a continuation of the earlier song "what hurts the most." If you watch that video first, you'll see that the small is the grandson that was born from the daughter. She blamed het dad for her boy friend's (the baby's father) death. This caused distance between her and her father, but thy obviously reconciled due to the family photo. The small boy dies first causing her to leave home and become estranged. This is her first time back and she didn't get to see her father before he died. You can tell this from the age difference.

He left smiling. It looked like they were still in love and got into an accident. Got killed and never knew she was carrying his child. That's why they could not go on.

This song is about a couple...who the man/woman knows that good bye is coming in their relationship. They can tell by the other persons body language or what they dont usually do...in the song it is from a mans point of view... He remembers all the times that she had told him that she loved him and he had dreamed that they were gonna get married but then he remembers the day that she broke his heart. And he loves her and he wishes that they could still be together and that nothign had changed but he knows that that will never happen so he moves on but he still loves her deep down...
