   Am thinking its about a woman (reba) who starts out singing to her mother (kelly), who listens and they look out at the woman in the audience who seems to be kelly's mother. reba sings those words to kelly 'because of you...' as kelly looks at the woman in the audience, like she is saying 'because of you...' to her. Then in the makeup room, reba seems to take on the older woman role, perhaps the mother of kelly, an older version of kelly?, as tho they have gone thru this before and are so frustrated with it all. They are each feeling/doing the same damn thing and none of them want to. Its a generation repeat, it happened back in the day, it happens today. :/ And some strong person will be the one to step out and break that cycle.

   It sounds like the daughter , who watched, & heard her Mother being abused , physically, verbally , & emotionally. It's a sad song, but the music & the singing is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. WOW.

   This song is about nontrust in people period! Daughter to Mother that is. Growing up w/ an abusive Mother...emotionally;physically & mentally will drive anyone to question anything n everyone about it all!! I know this from my very own relationship w/ my Mother!! How can one feel loved by anyone when one has never felt worthy of the love from the very 1 who gave u LIFE?

   I always cry when I listen to this song because I was abused by my mother since I was young..... All these lyrics flash me back of those times. And it just hurts. <|3

   i think Reba is singing to herself and saying because of you (to Kelly) because Kelly is her as a young girl and didn't leave the bastard that now as a grown woman she can not be in a relationship because she doesn't trust anyone to not hurt her.

   I believe that this song is being sung to the boyfriend of a young and beautiful woman. He beats her and flirts with other women in front of her. Reba sings that because of what he did to this girl (Kelly Klarkson) and because it scared her so much she thinks scary things as she goes outside of her home. when Kelly is singing she is saying how she is always scared at home even, and she always will be.
