Sheryl Crow: Strong Enough Meaning
Song Released: 1994
Strong Enough Lyrics
Tears of rage I cannot fight
I’d be the last to help you understand
Are you strong enough to be my man?
Nothing’s true and nothing’s right
So let me be alone tonight
Cause you can’t change the way I am
Are...

I don’t think that she’s borderline or or bipolar. Real love is the most amazing and painful experience one can live. I just don’t know what “lie to me” meat. We all have baggage and the older we get, the more it builds, and causes PTSD. I think that he’s breaking her, perhaps even gaslighting. She doesn’t know the truth anymore. If she told him what was consuming her, he might retaliate and do the “best defense is offense” routine. He see’s that she’s hurting, and she just wants the strength and belief and trust that they probably both need. It takes two most of the time. Some of the most damaged people are in denial. She’s being honest. I’d say that she has high functioning ASD, but I’m not a doctor

This song is about her pms symptoms altering her behaviour, and her suggestions to her boyfriend how to manage it.

She is simply asking her boyfriend if he will stick by her when she is feeling down and frustrated with life. To suggest " bipolar", as others have said is absolutely ridiculous. Her lyrics are very straightforward. She isn't at her best tonight. She can't explain it. She really wants him to stay. Is he strong enough to see her thru the bad stuff, or will he run away and pout?

Dear anonymous...who said no one would probably read this. I did,a few times. I'm living it, too. I have no advice anymore, just more questions. But how can we let those people we love down because of a medical condition? I battle it every day, and I imagine you do, as well. All I know is ... enjoy the good days. Good thoughts to you and anyone else that suffers - patients and partners alike.

This song has I am bipolar written all over it. She keeps it to herself and would have a hard time explaining it anyway, so she doesn't even try. However, she yearns to be in a loving relationship, but is afraid he might run off if he sees her in a down time, or if he knew of her condition.
-
Living with a borderline personality disorder possibly bipolar, she is VERY accomplished academically, however she takes the problems of the world that most of us take as 'par for the course', as an opportunity to blame.
It goes away shortly, with time varying between hours and years. She doesn't give a shit about the swath she trashes in the process, being borderline....but she has no more memory of her crap than I am incapable of forgetting it.
Am I strong enough to be 'her man'? Hell, no. She would not be strong enough to be 'his woman' and would take great umbrage that anyone would suggest it. Fuck one sided relationships, yeah?
People like those described in the song and in my story...RUN A Fucking Way..they will kill you.
I don't even take my own advise so just be aware that these people are out there and prey on kind hearts.
Am I strong enough to be her man? Why the hell should I have to be 'strong enough' to care about someone. That's jacked up.
Have a good life, world. No one will probably read this.
Caio.
