Left Behind Lyrics

I've known faces that have disappeared in time
Find me wrapped in glass and slowly soaked in lime
All My friends have pictures made to make you cry
I've seen this and wondered what I've done to calcify

(I ignore you)
As I close my eyes I...

the guy above me is right, but this song has more than that meaning. it's also talking very literally about getting left behind when it feels the world has moved on and passed you by

I read somewhere that this is about an old friend of coreys who used to be best friends with him but then they seperated due to a drug addiction and he left (corey) behind.
then when he comes running back corey ignores him hence "I ignore you!"

About the damaged and hurtful Individual that was badly influenced to ignore the warning signs. Now upset and disappointed at both The Holy Ghost [Spirit Of GOD] and most of us people, not to get to close to him for why we couldn't do more to help him[the individual] along with the homeless and the hungry that were left behind being drunk and stoned. Just surviving and wondering why somebody wouldn't take them out of their predicament to be raised towards a heavenly place from the hellish condition. Where in many cases they and he[the individual] wanted just to ''slip away'', but instead of dying which he and some of the homeless might have wanted to die to finally go to a better place [Heaven], but instead are left behind in miseary where he feels that the spirit of God and most of us are leaving them behind like by The Rapture that's more of a ''man made wanting'' a date with the[ir] end to be raised instead of letting and leaving the job up to GOD to raise the believers on HIS timeline for them to be taken up, even though it seems they're having a heavenly time here. Where he[the individual] and the rest feel why they're left behind that do wanna go there to be relieved of their sufferings and be with the rest of them that they left behind with God.

this song is very therapeutic to me. I know that the writer had his own reasons for writing the lyrics but as a fan I view it in my own way. To me the song is about someone who was def left behind in a lot of ways more than just one. His father not there, his friends who were scumbags that he left behind, as well as the empty feeling you get when you think about the people of your past and you take an honest look at your life and realize how much it just wasnt good in your past. ignoring phone calls from bad people you used to be with. being picked on by people who think youre weird and isolating yourself in a room of your house eating dirty cereal while scumbags try to chip away at you by throwing rocks into your house. being insecure and people looking at you a certain way. falling off the face of the planet with all this neroticsm while at the same time still having to be alive and deal with the world and how screwed up human nature is. i love this song so much.

i hadn't actually read up on the story behind the song but figured due to the alcohol references and reference to a single person "slipping away" that the song was mostly about someone who was lost, most likely to alcohol.

so i agree completely with the first poster but i sort of disagree with the world-getting-ahead interpretation, as i see it as a personal song for the writer and less of a plea of destitution.

yeah the song is basically abt catching up with the world which seems to be evading and the frustration one has to cope with when one finds that his undeserving friends have gotten through the difficulties easily while he just well...got left behind"All my friends have pictures meant to make me cry I Know what Ive done to calcify"
