I think it’s about being drafted into a war during some summer and he was saying good by to his land by looking up in the stars while camping - then - interrupted his summer after an atomic bomb (or something happened - war broke out) was drafted and pulled into war- then he skipps to after the war during the winter when his country won - and they returned and they had a parade during the recession and they threw “ticker tape” out the winter which was an early type of communications printing paper for the stock market communications which means the ticker tape parade would have been during a winter war that ended and the last one we had was WW2 and they flooded the streets with long pieces of paper called ticker tape to welcome the troops home after the war - meaning he would have used cold snow to clean his wounds - the rest is explanatory when you factor that in / it also seems like he may not have made it home and died in the song and imaged that before he died getting home going back to blue seas- also motorcade isn’t just for funerals - it’s what we call the rescue team when they come - or the parade itself (both)
Just my thought
