If I Didn't Love You Lyrics
Watching you play in the bath
A soap suds stickleback navy
A scrubbing brush landing craft

This is a song about sexual frustration.
A man is planning a romantic evening, while his wife or girlfriend is taking a bath. He builds a fire in the fireplace, makes some cocoa, and puts a romantic record on the stereo.
But when she comes out of the bathtub, she isn't in the mood for sex. So, he's left sitting alone by the fireplace. The record he was playing hits a scratch, and keeps repeating itself over and over... which only adds to his frustration.
He's annoyed at his wife/girlfriend, whcih is why he's saying "If I didn't love you, I'd hate you."
