Plush Lyrics

And I feel that times a wasted go
So where ya going to tomorrow?
And I see that these are lies to come
Would you even care?

And I feel it
And I feel it

Where ya going for tomorrow?
Where ya going with that mask I found?
And I feel,...

Wow...well, lets see if I can actually be the one to make some sense....

Ive heard this song the last 15 yrs and its one of my favorites, but I had it on heavy rotation in feb of this year and think I MIGHT have figured it out......

The first line seems sarcastic, or if not caring.
and then he begins to describe his relationship with his girl, beginning to figure her out, and he thinks that she doesn't feel as strongly to him.

the pre chorus is just his emotion.

the chorus describes still if she cares for him at all like he does for her...
The mask I found is described as a character she portrays or an emotion that she is showing....
And the dogs symbolize the men that are around her, hitting on her flirting with her, that sort of deal, and then saying, will she trust him and be alone when she's not around him.

The 2nd verse starts off with, "so much depends on the weather", which weather can symbolize emotion like dark skies and black clouds are depression......

but he describes in the second line, "so is it raining in your bedroom", going back to the weather part, which rain could symbolize tears and crying. He's questioning if she's crying and upset about their relationship. Then going on to ask again, if she still cares....he seems very hurt as if he'll never see her again.

The Bridge goes on to say..
When the men she is around flirt with her and try getting with her, he'll find out later if she's been faithful and wait until tomorrow if she'll still be with him.

---all together this song is very powerful and full of emotion, I love the metaphors used in this song---

----im not sure if that's the meaning

but that's my take on the song....

This song is was written because of missing girl around California and the search to find her. It was the premise of the song. But The song is really about being in a one sided obsessive relationship.. check out VH STP's Storytellers ...they talk all about it.

Although I agree with the missing girl explaination,I believe this song is more about their vision of the thinking of the person who killed her. I hear it as someone on the run, or waiting to see if they will get away with it. Also, it refers to a second person, which I think is not talking to the girl, but could be an accomplice, which I doubt, or talking to himself as an outside entity he is relying on for guidance (wondering about the mask, whether the dogs will be able to find the body, and whether his scent will be on it to follow. This depends on the weather to a large extent. Some of my interpretation is due to what sounds like minor chords on the guitar during the chorus, which sets a darker mood. So that's my take on it, like it or not.

I think the song rings of depression and adultery. Not clear, but the singer questions where she is going in a fatalistic tone. The implication is the cheating side of town. When the dogs begin to smell her will they smell her alone. A dog is able to discern scents. You smell a hamburg, the dog smells the bun, meat, cheese. How many times have you seen a dog stick it's nose right between a girls legs, butt or boobs. The dog can smell if she has been with another man and if they have done anything. Lastly the mask. One hides behind the mask. She looks at him and says I love you, behind the mask she has another man.

consider the verse raining cats and dogs, and dogs reffer to as men and when it says is it rainin in your room it could as well mean r u sleeping with men sweaty sex lol.. and/or do u feel bad or cry about it this dark concerns and lack of trust issues etc.. and the title plush.. could be girl.. like calling a girl barbie.. but shes a plush doll, played around with.. and as for the mask it could be saying like two faced girl, she says one thing but does another and all she does is lie

I read the Wikipedia description of the bands' origins. I wondered if this could be the guys' thoughts on the woman they both thought was their own, until they compared notes, and she decided it was time to Skip Town - Or Payup. The place she called "home" was now home to the men who were left to come to grips with their new thoughts about what they thought had been between them and their female.

I interpret this song as being in the same vein as their song "Sin", where the singer is sensing spiritual reality, but he realizes he will never act upon his realizations. The "dogs" are sensed realizations about "her" (spiritual truth), and he laments about how we always find excuses (time) to wait until "tomorrow" to act upon these truths.

The singer "feels" that he is wasting time, wearing a mask (living lies), seeing with "eyes of disarray", etc., and he laments that even if/when we realize these things, we don't care enough and simply find time to wait until "tomorrow", which is never.

I always thought this song was about being a junkie, though I vaugely remember hearing that they wrote it about a missing girl from their hometown, who later on was found dead. I don't know how true that is though. Anyway I think they may have tied the dead-girl theme with the drug theme. In a way when you're an addict it's like being dead because you're slowly killing yourself. If you're a serious addict it's like being in a zombie-like state cause' you're high all the time. Given the 1st verse,

"And I feel that times a wasted go
So where ya going to tommorrow?
And I see that these are lies to come
    Would you even care?"

I thought that depicted the attitude of the average drug addict. They're very apathetic when it comes to anything but their drug of choice. They often lie in order to get their next fix. The lines, "And I feel it. And she feels it." Is refering to getting high, specifically shooting up smack. The next verse,

    "Where ya going to tommorrow?
Where ya going with that mask I found?
And I feel, and I feel
When the dogs begin to smell her
    Will she smell alone?"

When he's talking about a mask I always thought that was refering to robbery (cause' robbers often wear masks to conceal their identity). Maybe he and his girlfriend are going to rob a store or somebody to get money for drugs. The dogs are drug sniffing dogs. When his say's "will she smell alone?" maybe that's him contemplating not doing the robbery with her. The other verse,

"When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
To find it, to find it, to find it"

Those lines show the addict's state of mind. No matter if his girlfriend get's caught in a crime or winds up dead he's still most concerned about getting a fix.
