Big Empty Lyrics

drivin' faster in my car
falling farther from just what we are
smoke a cigarette and lie some more
these conversations kill
falling faster in my car

time to take her home
her dizzy head is conscience laden
time to take a ride
it leaves...

This song is about addiction, he is on his way to score drugs. The conversations are the thoughts that addicts go through. Driving faster in my car is him going to score and driving faster in anticipation. Conversations kill refers to the thoughts that he has that cause him to use. Too much trippin is what it says. Shoes worn thin refers to him being worn out from the addiction. Falling faster in my car refers to him going lower and lower into the depths of addiction. Time to wait too long is him jonesing and wanting the drugs but it is taking too long. There is no doubt about this song is about drug addiction. She is either heroin or cocaine.

This song is definitely about heroin. The she in the song is the drug itself being both a heroine and the villian. The conversations are the internal battles that users have

Verse 1 is about a man in a relation either getting to/coming back from an affair and their partner suspects this with their relationship falling apart due to it ("falling faster from just what we are"). There's an awkward confrontation ("conversations kill"), and even though it's blatant, the guy keeps denying it ("smoke a cigarette and lie some more")
The chorus has a double meaning in that "take her home" is bringing the other girl to his house as well as taking her back to her place. She feels bad knowing that it's an affair ("her dizzy head is conscience laden"), but neither of them will talk about it ("no conversation"). "Time to wait too long" is about taking much longer in returning back to their partner.
Verse 2 is about just how often he goes to visit the other girl and the morality from cheating ("Too much walking shoes worn thin" & "Too much tripping and my soul's worn thin"). "Her name is what it means", the association between her and that it's an affair.
"Conversation kills" is connected with "to wait too long" him being confronted by his partner about it and their relationship falling more apart.

I think the song is about date rape drugs wearing off while he takes her home and he cant have any conversation with her because he doesn't want to be caught but he wants so bad to wait too long so she'll wake up because hes falling in love with her during the drive

Weiland, he explained that many of his lyrics are put together from various images that come to mind, and it's up to the listener to piece them together. - No need to know

Got his girl drunk and it didn't stick. Trying to get laid but her conscience won't let her give in. Conversation is killing his chances. He doesn't want conversation he wants sex. Smoking cigarettes and lie some more. Playing along with the conversation hoping he can score. It's not working. Time to take her home. Better luck next time. He's a little disappointed with his life now. This is what it's come to. Walking forever and never getting anywhere. Tripping so much that his souls worn thin. There's no turning back now though. He's gonna stay on this path. But he's done for the night. It's not gonna happen. Time to take her home. He'll try again maybe with another girl. This one is too good for what he wants.

Its a song about a man, tired in a relationship. exhausted from working during his middle years to establish a new career, he is tired from running around trying to get things done. Probably married. There is a young "dizzy" girl he madly desires, so he is rushing through the day to make love to her at night. Her name is his drug. Her conscience is full of his needs, she understands him. They don't need conversation for their passion. These conversations kill he refers to his family and wife suspecting he is cheating and threatening him. He wants to warn her to act casual in front of others, to keep their love a secret, because if discovered it would have to end. Waiting too long means it took him so long to find the perfect soul to compliment his. Also the day becomes endless waiting for the night so they can be together. He fears losing her and wants to keep her hidden from scrutiny.

This song always remind's me of nights out at bars and when female's get so intoxicated that it's time to bring them home to safety or to your home.A time when the party is over and to be alone with someone or in bed.

Ha ha ha to the previous interpretation... funny one! Another "relationship going down the tubes fast" song; there's no conversion, it's just a "big empty"... her conscience is laden (what has she done? Played around? Shafted her best friend?) Whatever... but it's clear he's hittin' the road...

This song was about how sex in the backseat of a car can ruin a relationship.
