System of a Down: Ddevil Meaning
Ddevil Lyrics
Among the writers of the word,
Shake your spear at shakespeare,
Shake your spear at shakespeare,
Loud and noisy,
Strong refrigerators,
Gaining independence,
Gaining independence,
Stupid people do stupid...

#1 top rated interpretation:Plagiarized existence exist,
=> They point out the fact imitating other people happens so often. It's a part of our society, it exists.
Among the writers of the word,
=> these writers mean mass media. They manipulate us so we are thinking about our appearance, our clothes and so on. There roots the "Plagiarized existence".
Shake your spear at Shakespeare,
Shake your spear at Shakespeare,
=> I think "Shake your spear" means masturbation, figuratively enjoying something. So they are praising Shakespeare, we should enjoy Shakespeare, but we don't do it.
Loud and noisy,
=> There are many complaints in our society, the people are dissatisfied. They beef about poverty, government and things like this, but they do nothing to change things.
Strong refrigerators,
=> This are the leading people in economy and politicians who freeze the complaining people ( They beef about poverty, government and things like this, but they do nothing to change things. ) . Strong means that they do their job well.
Gaining independence,
Gaining independence,
=> We normal people are dependent on these "Strong refrigerators". They keep everything firmly in hand. It is an appeal to become independent.
Stupid people do stupid things,
=> We are the "Stupid people", we are so easily manipulated so we "do stupid things".
Smart people outsmart each other,
=> The leading people ( "Strong refrigerators" ) want to be mightier and mightier so they deceive each other. They try to trap each other.
Then themselves, then themselves,
Then themselves, then themselves,
=> Through their own traps they fail. They cause their own detriment.
Take me down there,
=> The "Strong refrigerators" oppress the ones who are fighting them. The lyrical I is one of opressed.
Photographic relapse,
=> The way the society is created we / the "Strong refrigerators" destroy it.
People feeding frenzy,
=> The "Strong refrigerators" manipulate the people so they do what the "Strong refrigerators" want them to, the people invogerate their might. The "Strong refrigerators" are frenzied, the people feed the frenzy.
The devil is so lovely,
The devil is so lovely,
The devil is so lovely,
so lovely,
so lovely,
=> It is so easy to believe the illusion and to become addicted to the temptation. To fight the "Strong refrigerators" is much more difficult.
My blue moon rivets in exits,
=> The lyrical I's acting is strange and rare. It criticizes the "Strong refrigerators" and tries to fight them. Althoug this is strange and rare you cannot deny that there are people who do this.
Forewarned customary spirits,
By myself, by myself,
By myself, by myself,
=> The "customary spirits" ( I think this are the normal people ) are warned about the "Strong refrigerators" and the "Photografic relapse" but they do nothing against it. They are freezed by the "Strong refrigerators". So they invigorate insanity, they are "feeding frenzy". The devil too lovely, they cannot resist.
Take me down there,
Photographic relapse,
People feeding frenzy,
The devil is so lovely,
Take me down there,
Photographic relapse,
People feeding frenzy,
The devil is so lovely.
=> See above. -

#2 top rated interpretation:I think it's a mixture of all of your ideas. The song is about people being selfish. The line about plagiarism is just an example of this selfishness. None of you know what SOAD's religion is so there could be Christian message or there might not. The devil reference might just be an easy to use personification of evil and greed.

#3 top rated interpretation:Once again I may refer everyone to the lyric booklet of the original album, where the quote above "DDevil" reads:
"For those who control the central nervous system, control society and the world." -
About one's imagination going all the way back to the times of the genius poet William Shakespeare. To start to understand and overcome the arts and crafts of one's madness, anger and the ego's love of the so called ''D devil'' Where man's acting imagination was/is in need of having a strong faith in the words of Jesus Christ, then and now. With Who's face to face you can ''Shake The Devil'' away from you, just by shaking the holy spear of god in front of him, as like the staff of truth. When those English Shakesperean[s] cholars and Je[w]suit intellectual word Plagiarists began to disreguard the reality of the Biblical flatt Earth revelation. Which was beginning to be turned upside down and set into motion, as a big bang Helliocentrick spinning ''Globe Theater'' that started as a evolutionized science fiction model theory of madness and awe. Which all in all turned out many crazy theateroized and radicalized ideas of the imagination eversince, by which made the devil in them laughing aloud and looking so lovely.

Ha! I'm sitting here debating on whether or not to enlighten all of you about the true meaning. The only joy I can get from my story is to drop little seeds throughout the web that will hopefully be read by those who are meant to know. The DDevil is an easter egg hidden in plain sight. It's a reference to the false prophet who is the beast of the sea. In coming from the sea, naval codes refer to him. DD in navy code means "destroyer." Also the plagerism of the word and Shakespeare does mean the real Shakespeare never wrote the plays, but his name wasn't Francis Bacon. The discovery of a bible with highlighted verses could be matched with specific lines in Shakespeare's plays. The owner of the Bible was Edward de Vere. Also one of the sonnets states "Almost every word doth reveal my name. "Every word" Edward "doth reveal" de Vere my name. "Coincidently" DEV is a naval code applied to Navy Team Seal 6. The false prophet and messiah have been found and they're brothers who are among the lineage of Shakespeare.

Easy interpretation.... There is no interpretation, SOAD likes to write about things that have complete no sense and thats why that makes SOAD so unique...
-
This song is actually about that although shakespeare did exist he wasnt literate enough to even have written a few sentences, let alone an entire play. Their is loads of evidence that show that the true writer of his work was sir francis bacon (an editor of the king james bible as well).

I believe that this song is referring to the people of this world that don't care about anything but themselves. 'Smart people outsmarting each other' means that people are in competition to be the best no matter what. 'Then themselves' is referring to people fooling themselves. 'The devil is so lovely' means that Satan is glad that all this is happening.
-
your both wrong this song is about how famous writers(like Shakespeare) have written famous plays and books but they have plagiarized from other people that's what SOAD is trying to get at in this song
-
Well I don't agree with you there. I think no one at SOAD is into that God-Devil thing at all, and I don't think you'll find much of a Christian message but to care for each other.
