System of a Down: Friik Meaning
Friik Lyrics
Here's my problem
My problem is that I'm
Too visual to be blind
Too audiological to be deaf
Too ideological to be in peace
Too compassionate to be in war
Too crazy to be sane
Too sane to be lazy
Too...

I just think it's worth noting that Friik translated to Freak from Estonian and Latvian.

To me this song is about a men with extreme social disorder its so bad that he thinks he doesnt fit into any groups this is the first part of the song then he wants to stop being so different stop the infection of his brain and swim back to his idea of sanity which is where he fits in.
The chorus is about what hes mind sees.
The thrid verse is after a failed suicide attempt by jumping from a high area but somehow lives he wakes up in a hospital with amneisa, he cant move at all which causes hysteria, which then causes him to not be able sleep which later causes him to not be able to sleep insomina. After this he goes insane and is put in an insane aslyum which they then fry his brain what he thinks is mind control -
I think it is a song about someone who used to be normal and then goes under a treatment of mind control in the hospital. It is a common theory made by paranoids that in hospitals you are brainwashed and your mind is controlled.
Serj describes this state of having a controlled mind in the beginning. At the same time it doesn't control him perfectly. He is in a struggle.
The part with "burning oceans" and "melting faces" and where he asks "WHY?!" mean that his perception of the world is disappearing and he sees everything in a way that he didn't before.
With other words: His mind is full of sh*t. Because of mind control.
I think this song was to go on SOAD's debut album but it didn't because they already had another song about mind control which was better. -
Possibly a maniac who is experiencing a bad trip?
Refer to verse cant sleep, cant eat, cant shit etc. These things may develop during the bad trip. You cant do actually anything, cus nothin seems comfortable.
