The Bravery: Believe Meaning
Believe Lyrics
Waiting for our ship to come but our ships not coming back
We do our time like pennies in a jar
What are we saving for [x2]
There's a smell of stale fear and it's wreeking from our...

For me this song means that a person needs something new in his life to live again.
The lines 'What are we saving for/What are we waiting for' describe how this person wants to know what life is about and what is happening next.
'The drinking never stops because the drinks absolve our sins': This shows how he wants to escape from the world for a while and not stop thinking because he can't see the reason to live.
'live' in this song means not just to breathe, not to be just physically/biologically alive, but to experience something and to make a difference.
This explains:
'So give me something to believe
Cause I am living just to breathe
And I need something more
To keep on breathing for'
He wants more than just 'being alive'.
'I am hiding from some beast
But the beast was always here
Watching without eyes
Because the beast is just my fear
That I am just nothing'
His fear is that means nothing to the world or anyone in his world and he is about to become this 'nothing'. This fear is always with him and watches him 'without eyes', because it is inside him.
So this song is about the fear to become nothing and unimportant and trying to find something, that makes life worth 'living'. For that you need something to believe in. -
i think this song means that a person is just looking at the world and seeing how bad it is. He is waiting for good things to happen but they never did. When he says''so give me something to believe, cause i'm living just to breathe'' i think he means give me somethin to believe. Give me something that would make me want to live and enjoy life. He is basically seeing people that are sinning and have problems in their lives. Its just a song about how the world disgusts him.
